Udaipur Tour Package From Ahmedabad
Lake Pichola
One of the famous lakes of the city of Udaipur, Lake Pichola is a splendid sight for the whole of its reach. Spanning 6.96 sq km, Lake Pichola was created artificially, all the way back in 1362 AD, meaning it has existed in this region for nearly 700 years at this point. It got its name from the nearby village of Picholi. Dotting the great lake are four islands. One of these islands is called Jag Niwas, home of the glorious Lake Palace, constructed at the behest of Maharana Jagat Singh II between 1743 and 1746.
City Palace
The City Palace of Udaipur is a grand spectacle, overlooking Lake Pichola and located in the heart of the city. In any picture of Udaipur’s cityscape that anyone clicks, it is easy to spot the City Palace. In many ways, the Palace is symbolic of the city itself, as it, too, under the rule of many different kings, has changed, evolved and expanded over the past 400 years, much like the city around it. It is most definitely the main attraction of the city of Udaipur.
Best Time to Visit
Summer
The scorching desert sun around Udaipur is unrelenting between the months of April and June, as temperatures spike all the way up to 40 °C at times during the day. The nights are fairly pleasant, but the sun during the day does severely restrict your ability to move around openly and freely.
Monsoon
Udaipur doesn’t experience relentless, heavy showers during the monsoon months from July to September due to its location. The drizzling is light and just enough to cool the air down to a pleasant temperature, somewhere in the range of 25? and 35?. The mountains around the city burst into life with the coming of rain, giving you a stunning and rather rare glimpse of the landscape in full bloom. None of the activities, such as a boat ride on the lakes is really affected by the rain and the cooler temperatures make moving around in the day much more convenient. Additionally, tourists aren’t yet pouring into the city, meaning people who don’t want a vacation that will significantly lighten their wallets may find some great deals on hotel rooms and such.
Winter
With the views of migrating birds, various festivals and an overall pleasant climate that is a delight to walk around in, Udaipur during the winter, between the months of October and March, is simply spectacular. The temperatures stay pleasant, ranging from 10 ? to 25?. No weather events will impede your tours of the city’s magnificent architecture. Trekking around the mountains, riding camels and other activities are much more fun to do without having to worry about the sun sucking up all your energy or the rain putting a damper on your spirit.
How to Reach
By Air
Flying from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to Maharana Pratap Airport is possible, but it is often not a direct affair. Only one flight flies between the two airports directly, quickly wrapping the trip up in a little over an hour. Other flights, however, take at least one stop, either in Mumbai or at Delhi, stretching the time to at least about 4 and a half hours in total, with some even taking longer than 7 hours.
By Train
There is only one train between Ahmedabad Junction and Udaipur City Railway Station and it takes you there directly. Travelling for 298 km in total, the aptly named Ahmedabad-Udaipur City Express Train takes a little over 10 hours to reach the destination.
By Road
Ahmedabad to Udaipur is a reasonable road trip to make. The various routes that connect the two cities range from about 260 km to 350 km and take a duration of anywhere between 5 to 6 and a half hours. Buses are available for those who wish to choose that option, but it is not too long a drive. The lush greenery of the hills along which the routes go is an added bonus.
Ideal Duration
While there are numerous monuments and other such locales in Udaipur, most of them are within the city limits and quite easily accessible. Spending a long, long time simply basking in the tranquil environment of the city is tempting, but if you simply wish to touch down here and take a quick tour, about a week of your life should be more than enough. Look for some Udaipur tour packages from Ahmedabad and plan your vacation now.
