In Kanyakumari, the summer season starts from March and lasts till May. Although the temperature remains within 20°C - 35°C, the humidity ensures that sightseeing becomes a nuisance.

The winter season in Kanyakumari lasts from December to February, with average temperatures of 17°C - 32°C. This is a good time to visit Kanyakumari, with most pilgrims starting their trip in the winters itself to save themselves from the burning sun and stifling humidity.

Monsoon Season

The monsoon season in Kerala starts from June and lasts till the end of August, sometimes spilling into September as well. The torrential rainfall that hits most of Kerala sometimes leave a devastating effect on the state. This is not a very good time to visit Kerala, but if armed with a trusty weather report, it is a good idea to make use of the low prices for packages and accommodation.

Kanyakumari witnesses its monsoon season from the month of June to September, when rains lash out at the city, but intermittently. It cannot be said to be the best time to visit Kanyakumari, but can be said to be a good time to spend a couple of days for pilgrimage purposes.

My trip was kerala was arranged by Namaskaram travels. My agent Sunny was very helpful throughout the trip. However I had some bad experience through the trip. The hotel in Munnar, Grand Valley, which was given to me in a 4 star package package was not of the standard for a 4-star. The location of the hotel was 100-150 m steep down the road, which could only be reached through hotel jeep, our traveller stayed out. A good hotel but not a 4 star. The next day, my traveller broke down on our way to Thekkady and we were stuck in the middle of nowhere for a couple of hours. The agency arranged for another traveller which covered our itenary for that day and dropped us to our hotel, Woodnote, which was the best in our trip. Local arrangements were made for our siteseeing in Thekkady, which were also good. Finally, a new traveller was assigned to us for our remaining trip, with with we covered Allepy and our drop to Kochi. Overall: Traveller Experience: 2/10 Grand Valley View, Munnar: 4/10 Woodnote, Thekkady: 10/10 Time Square, Allepy: 7/10 Agent Communication: 10/10 Travel Triangle Communication: 10/10

Things to do in Kerala

Staying at a houseboat

Staying at a houseboat in Alleppey is the quintessential part of a Kerala trip. In fact, people don’t consider a trip to Kerala as complete unless they have been to Alleppey. The houseboats are equipped with all required amenities for a traveler to have a relaxing trip.

Visiting the Tea Gardens

The fragrant tea gardens of Munnar are a must visit when in Kerala. You can visit one of the tea factories as well, to see how the tea leaves are processed and also to purchase a few delicious flavors.

Spending time at Kochi Beach

Kochi beach is a hub for locals and tourists to gather around and enjoy a beautiful sunset. The beach is not swim worthy, since it is more of a dock, bt the views are sublime, with the red glowing sun behind the gigantic ships leaving the docks.

Things to do in Kanyakumari

Bathing at Triveni Sangam

Taking a dip at the Triveni Sangam is said to rid one of all impure thoughts and past sins, hence a lot of people flock to this part of the state and step into the water. There separate ghats for women, and mixed ones as well, along with changing rooms, if you should need it.

Visit Thovalai Flower Market

To be completely dazzled out of your mind, visit the headily fragrant Thovalai Flower Market. There are a huge variety of flowers available here, from the humble marigold to the exotic blood orchids.

Spend time at Muppandal Wind Farm

If you want to see how renewable energy is generated, then this is the right place for you to visit.

Preparation Tips

The following are the important points to be kept in mind while planning your trip to Kerala and Kanyakumari:

  • Check the best time to visit both the places. Kerala experiences wet and maritime tropical climate, whereas Kanyakumari has equable climate due the its coastal boundaries. Make sure that you plan a holiday during winter months for the best experience.
  • If you are planning a pocket friendly holiday then save unwanted expenses by holidaying during the off-season.
  • Book your package in advance to avoid last minute hassles.
  • Plan your itinerary in advance as there are many attractions to explore in both the places.
  • Carry your vaccination certificate and other necessary documents.
  • Make sure that you follow all the travel guidelines mentioned by the authorities to ensure a safe experience.
  • Don’t forget to carry an extra pair of masks and sanitizers.
