Nigell's 4 days trip to Kashmir

We found Jolly Holidays by chance through a website; we live in Birmingham and were planning a 1 week holiday in Kashmir at quite short notice. We were served by Junifar who suggested where we might visit and then made all the arrangements for us: transport from Jammu with a super guide (Jahangir) who stayed with us the whole time, hotels in Pahalgam and Srinagar and a houseboat on Dal Lake, cable-car trips in Gulmarg (and refunds when weather led to a cancellation). She got us really favourable rates at the hotel in Srinagar and the houseboat. She also phoned regularly to make sure we had no issues, and acted promptly to solve any that arose. She worked really long hours and was always available. Jahangir was exceptional: fluent English, knowledgeable on a huge range of subjects (the wide range of Kashmiri handicrafts, history, agriculture, the construction of the roads and railways, politics, security, what to see and do), patient, flexible, also an expert video-maker and a superb driver (if you've not experienced traffic on both Kashmiri mountain roads and city roads, then you won't realise the full breadth and importance of this skill). Together they made our holiday happy and memorable, and we are very grateful.
