1. Nagarhole National Park

This national park hosts a wide range of species of plants and animals including elephant, jackal, tiger, panther, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, mongoose, civet cat, hyena, and sloth bear. This place has been the shelter of more than 250 varieties of birds. Nagarhole National Park is surrounded by Kabini River on the north while Bandipur National park forms its southern boundaries. A dam of the Kabini River along with its reservoir demarcates the two national parks and is a sight to behold.

2. Kabini Dam

Kabini Reservoir near the town of Sargur is located at a distance of about 60 kilometres from Mysore. The lush green surroundings and the pristine river water of the river make it a perfect place for capturing natural beauty for the photographers. Built-in 1974 on River Kabini, this place has enthralling nature encapsulating it. One can explore the dam, the flora and fauna and the river valley and immerse in its serene beauty. 3. Abbey Falls

The water cascade in Coorg comes down from the cliff of a height of 70 feet. Stocky coffee bushes and spice estates with trees entwined with pepper vines surround the waterfall. Some small mountains streams and brooks together forms the waterfall where the water flows to join the River Kaveri or Cauvery as one of its tributaries. The walk to the falls from the main entrance has around 200 steps downward.

4. Namdroling Monastery

Namdroling Monastery or popularly called the Golden Temple of Coorg, is the largest teaching centre of the school of Tibetan Buddhism known as Nyingmapa. It has some fabulous work of Tibetan architecture and beautiful murals adorn the wall. Spread over an area of 80 square feet and built from Bamboo which was donated by the Indian Government to the Tibetans in exile, this temple holds many auxiliary structures like educational institutions and a hospital, in addition to being home to about 5,000 members of the Sangha community. It was founded by Pema Norbu Rinpoche, the 11th throne-holder of the Palyul Lineage of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism, following his exit from Tibet in 1963.

5. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

This is the second-largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala. This sanctuary in Wayanad is surrounded by the protected areas of Mudumalai in Tamil Nadu as well as Nagarhole and Bandipur in Karnataka. The wildlife sanctuary was founded in 1973 and is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve which was the first biosphere out of the 14 present in India. Spread over an area of 345 square km two parts namely Upper Wayanad and Lower Wayanad form the area.

By Road

If you have chosen a road way to go to Coorg then Coorg is well connected to all South Indian cities by road. You can easily catch a bus to Coorg from Mysore, Bangalore and Mangalore. Kabini is about a two and a half hour journey from Coorg which is easily covered by road route. Then, the next destination Wayanad is about 90 kilometers from Kabini. This distance can also be covered by bus as the destinations are well-connected by road route.
