Places to Visit

1. Gupt Godavari

It is located 19kms south of Ramghat. Godavari River emerges as a perennial stream from the rocks that are inside the cave, flows down to another cave below, and then vanishes. A large stone is believed to be the remains of the demon Mayank. This demon is known to have stolen Sita's clothes when she was bathing, and Laxman killed that demon. At the entrance of the cave, beautifully carved sculptures of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva can be seen.

2. Mandakini River

Ram Ghat is located on the bank of Mandakini River, and has a long stretch of steps. Many holy men dressed in saffron dresses can be seen meditating here. During exile, Lord Rama, Laxman, and Sita took shelter here and appeared before the poet Tulsidas. Tulsidas wrote Ram charitmanas while sitting on the platform of Ramghat.
