Andaman for Honeymooners: Romantic Places, Experiences & Where to Stay

Rated 4.40/5 ( based on 8093 reviews )

Your Requirements are unique!

Our experts would love to create a package just for you.

The Andaman Islands work for a honeymoon because almost everything a couple wants sits within a short ferry ride: empty white-sand beaches, warm clear water for snorkelling and diving together, sunsets you actually plan your evening around, and quiet island resorts where the loudest sound is the sea. This guide is for couples deciding where to go, what to do together and where to stay, the most romantic beaches and spots, the experiences worth booking as a pair, couple-friendly resorts by island and budget, the best time to travel, and sample honeymoon itineraries. For the full list of options and prices you can book end to end, it links straight to Andaman honeymoon packages.

Why Andaman Is Perfect for a Honeymoon

Andaman suits a honeymoon for one simple reason: it combines seclusion with enough to do that neither of you gets bored. The islands are remote enough to feel like a proper escape (no long highways, no crowded hill-station markets), yet a couple can fill their days with snorkelling over live coral, a sunset cruise, a candlelight dinner on the sand and a scuba dive, then do nothing at all the next morning. Couples who want pure relaxation get long, uncrowded beaches and slow island time; couples who want a little adventure get diving, sea walking and island hopping. That balance, romance plus the option of adventure, is what sets Andaman apart from a one-note beach holiday.

In short, Andaman gives a couple three things that matter on a honeymoon:

  • Seclusion: beaches and resorts spread across separate islands, so it never feels crowded even in season.
  • Variety for two: sunsets and spa-quiet beaches alongside scuba, snorkelling and island hopping, relax or adventure on the same trip.
  • Easy romance: short ferry hops, calm water and natural sunset points mean the romantic moments are built in, not engineered.

Best Romantic Beaches & Spots for Couples

The most romantic places in Andaman are clustered on three islands (Havelock, Neil and around Port Blair) with a few remote spots in the north for couples who want true seclusion. Below are the beaches and viewpoints most honeymoons are built around. For an exhaustive roundup, see our full list of honeymoon places in Andaman.

Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep): the romantic base

Havelock, officially Swaraj Dweep, is where most honeymoons spend the bulk of their time. It holds the islands' most famous beach and the best diving, and it is reached by ferry from Port Blair in about 1.5–2 hours.

It sits on the west coast of Havelock, about 12 km from the jetty, and it's Andaman's signature sunset beach. Couples come for the sunsets, the swimming and a long, unhurried walk together along the sand.

Radhanagar is the beach the islands are famous for: a wide curve of soft white sand backed by forest, with calm, shallow water for swimming and the sunset most couples plan their first evening around. It is regularly rated among Asia's best beaches (often cited from a 2004 Time magazine ranking). There are no jet-skis or vendors lining the sand, which is the point: it is a place to swim, walk the full length and stay for the light.

You'll find it in south-east Havelock, past the resort strip, where black rocks meet turquoise water. It's the most photogenic beach for a couple's photoshoot, best enjoyed on a quiet morning.

Kala Pathar is named for the dark rocks scattered along pale sand and clear water, a contrast that makes it the most photogenic beach on Havelock and a favourite for couple photographs. It is quieter than Radhanagar, with limited swimming, so most couples come early for the scenery, a walk and photos rather than a full beach day.

This one is in north-west Havelock, tucked inside the forest fringe. It's the activity beach, where couples snorkel and sea walk together over coral that sits close to shore, the place to see the reef as a pair.

Elephant Beach is where couples who want a little adventure go: the reef sits close to shore, so snorkelling, sea walking and short rides all run from one beach. Reach it by a roughly 30-minute speed-boat ride from Havelock jetty, or a guided forest trek. Go early, before the day-trippers arrive. For the activities in detail, see the Andaman adventure activities guide.

Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep): the slow, quiet counterpart

Neil Island, officially Shaheed Dweep, is the calmer, slower island a short ferry from Havelock. Smaller and greener, it suits couples who want fewer crowds and a gentle pace, many pair two or three days on Havelock with a night or two on Neil.

It runs along the west coast of Neil, about 2 km from the jetty, and it's the island's classic evening spot. Couples come here for a quiet sunset, well away from the crowds.

Laxmanpur is Neil's long, white sunset beach. At low tide the sea pulls back to expose a wide stretch of sand and shells, and the natural coral arch locally called the Howrah Bridge sits at the far end (best seen at low tide). It is the island's classic place to watch the sun go down with far fewer people than Radhanagar.

It's right next to Neil jetty, on the island's east side, with easy, gentle water for two. Calm, shallow swims and glass-bottom rides make it a relaxed half-day.

Bharatpur is Neil's shallow, calm and clear beach, with glass-bottom boats and snorkelling running from the sand. Its position right by the jetty makes it the easiest beach to reach on the island and a good gentle start before you move on to Laxmanpur for sunset.

Around Port Blair: arrival and departure-day romance

Port Blair is the entry point to Andaman, and its beaches are the ones you can enjoy on arrival or departure day without a ferry.

It lies about 25 km south of Port Blair and is the best sunset point near the city. Come for a sunset to end the trip, and for the birdlife in the morning.

Chidiya Tapu, also called Sunset Point and Bird Island, is the best sunset beach near Port Blair, a rocky-and-sand shore backed by mangroves and forest, prime for endemic and migratory birds in the early morning. It makes a quiet, romantic close to a trip on the night before an early flight out. (Swimming after dark is not advised because of saltwater crocodiles in the creeks.)

It's about 7 km south-east of Port Blair city, a palm-fringed beach close enough for a quick evening by the sea near town.

Corbyn's Cove is the coconut-palm-fringed beach nearest Port Blair, calm enough for a swim, with cafes behind the sand and jet-ski and speed-boat rides, the natural choice for a relaxed first or last evening before you head to the islands.

For couples who want true seclusion: the far north

It sits near Diglipur in North Andaman, twin islands joined by a walkable sandbar. This is a remote, almost-private beach day for couples who want to go off the map.

Ross & Smith are two small islands linked by a thin natural sandbar that surfaces at low tide, letting you walk from one to the other across the sea. Reached by boat from Aerial Bay with a forest-department permit, it is among the most pristine and least-crowded beaches in Andaman, worth the long journey for couples who want seclusion above convenience.

Romantic Things to Do & Couple Experiences

Beyond the beaches, these are the experiences worth booking as a pair, the ones that turn a beach holiday into a honeymoon. Cost bands below are indicative; confirm current rates with the operator when you book. For more ideas, see our guide to romantic things to do in Andaman.

  • Private candlelight dinner on the beach: many Havelock and Port Blair resorts arrange a set-up-for-two on the sand or by the pool, a table, lights and a fixed multi-course menu, usually booked a day ahead. It is the single most popular honeymoon add-on, and a standout first or last night.
  • Scuba diving for two: Havelock is one of India's best places to learn to dive, with calm, clear water and shallow training reefs. A first-timer's "Discover Scuba" dive needs no certification and is a memorable thing to do together; couples who certify can dive the deeper sites. See the Andaman scuba diving options.
  • Snorkelling & sea walking as a pair: at Elephant Beach (Havelock) and the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park off Wandoor, the reef is close enough that even non-swimmers can see live coral and fish, sea walking lets you walk the seabed in a helmet, no swimming required.
  • Sunset cruise: a short evening boat out of Port Blair or Havelock to watch the sun drop over the water rather than from the sand, a quieter, more private alternative to a crowded sunset beach.
  • Bioluminescence night kayak: on dark, moonless nights, a guided kayak through the mangroves shows water that glows blue-green where you dip a paddle, one of Andaman's most memorable couple experiences, run seasonally on select nights.
  • Island hopping & a couple photoshoot: combine Ross Island, North Bay and a half-day on the water, or book a local photographer for a sunrise or sunset couple shoot at Kala Pathar or Laxmanpur, both popular ways to mark the trip.

Romantic Resorts & Where to Stay for Couples

Where you stay shapes an Andaman honeymoon as much as what you do. The simplest plan is to base on Havelock for two to three nights, add Neil for a night or two of quiet, and keep Port Blair for the arrival and departure nights. Resorts fall into three broad tiers (indicative per-night bands for two):

Tier Indicative / night (couple) Best island What you get
Luxury / premium INR 12,000+ Havelock Beachfront resorts, private villas, spa, pool, in-house diving and candlelight-dinner set-ups.
Mid-range INR 6,000–12,000 Havelock / Neil Comfortable sea-facing rooms, good restaurants, easy access to beaches and activities.
Budget / boutique under INR 6,000 Neil / Port Blair Smaller stays and guesthouses, quieter islands, more time and money for experiences.

Havelock has the widest choice of couple-friendly resorts, including well-known beachfront and luxury names. Neil is quieter and gentler on the budget, ideal for the slow middle of a trip. Port Blair is practical for the first and last night near the airport. The easiest way to match a resort to your budget and have stays, ferries and transfers arranged together is to start from a customisable Andaman honeymoon package and adjust the hotels to your tier.

Best Time for an Andaman Honeymoon

The best time for an Andaman honeymoon is October to May, with the calmest seas and clearest water for swimming, snorkelling and diving from November to April. This is peak couple season: reliable weather, every ferry and activity running, and the best conditions for sunsets and underwater experiences. The southwest monsoon (June to September) brings rough water, lower underwater visibility and choppy ferry crossings, with many water-sports operators paused; it is the cheapest and greenest window but the weakest for couple activities. For a deeper month-by-month breakdown, see our detailed Andaman honeymoon guide.

Season Months What couples can expect
Peak Nov–Apr Calm, clear seas; best diving, snorkelling and sunsets; all activities running; busiest and priciest, book resorts and ferries early
Shoulder Oct & May Good conditions, fewer couples, occasional showers; most activities still running and rates a little softer
Monsoon Jun–Sep Rough seas, lower visibility, many water sports and outer-island boats suspended; lush, quiet and cheapest

Sample Honeymoon Itineraries

How long you need depends on how much you want to fit in. As a rule, 4 nights covers the highlights, 5–6 nights lets you slow down on Neil, and 6–7 nights adds the far-north or extra diving. Each of these can be booked and customised as a full package.

4 Nights / 5 Days: the romantic highlights

Port Blair on arrival, then two nights on Havelock for Radhanagar sunset, Kala Pathar and a snorkel or scuba at Elephant Beach, a day on Neil for Laxmanpur sunset, and out from Port Blair. The shortest trip that still feels like a honeymoon. Book it as a 4N/5D Andaman honeymoon itinerary.

5 Nights / 6 Days: a slower pace

The same highlights with room to breathe: three nights on Havelock for an unhurried beach-and-diving stretch, two nights on Neil, and a candlelight dinner worked in. The most popular honeymoon length. See the 5N/6D Andaman honeymoon itinerary.

6 Nights / 7 Days: islands plus adventure

Adds time for the far-north seclusion of Ross & Smith or a couple of certified dives, plus a sunset cruise and island hopping, without ever feeling rushed. Browse the 6N/7D Andaman honeymoon itinerary. Still deciding between destinations? Our Andaman vs Lakshadweep for a honeymoon comparison helps you choose.

How to Reach Andaman for Your Honeymoon

Getting there: fly into Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair (the only airport) with direct flights from Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru and Visakhapatnam. From Port Blair, private ferries reach Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) in about 1.5–2 hours (government ferries take about 2.5–3 hours) and Neil (Shaheed Dweep) in about 1.5–2 hours; book ferries in advance in peak season. Indian nationals need no special permit for the main islands but should carry photo ID; remote spots such as Ross & Smith near Diglipur need a forest-department permit arranged locally.

Most couples spend two to three nights on Havelock, a night or two on Neil, and the arrival and departure nights around Port Blair, the right rhythm for a relaxed honeymoon rather than a rushed island chase.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Testimonial for Peral Andaman Our Andaman trip was truly unforgettable, and all the credit goes to Peral Andaman for their excellent planning and support. From ferry bookings and hotel arrangements to sightseeing and activity coordination, everything was managed professionally and without a
ny hassle. The team was always available to assist us, ensuring our journey was smooth and enjoyable. The ferry travel between Port Blair, Havelock, Neil Island, and Ross Island was well coordinated, and their guidance helped us make the most of our time. The early morning sightseeing, the unique 58 km convoy journey through the tribal reserve, the breathtaking beaches, and the amazing water sports made this trip one of the best vacations we've had. My suggestion to anyone visiting Andaman is to plan at least 6 nights and 7 days to enjoy the islands at a relaxed pace. Thank you once again, Peral Andaman, for your outstanding service, hospitality, and continuous support. We highly recommend your team to anyone planning an Andaman holiday. A big thank you to Peral Andaman for helping make our Andaman trip a wonderful and memorable experience. Everything was very well organized, and your support throughout the journey was truly appreciated. Your excellent coordination, prompt assistance, and friendly service made our vacation completely stress-free. We had an amazing time because of your team's efforts. A few tips for anyone planning an Andaman trip: - Ferry tickets should be booked well in advance, especially for the routes Port Blair → Havelock → Neil Island → Port Blair → Ross Island, to get the best timings and avoid last-minute issues. - Be prepared for early mornings. Most sightseeing starts between 4:00 AM and 7:00 AM, and you'll usually return to your hotel only around 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM after a full day of activities. - One of the unique experiences is the 58 km journey through the tribal reserve, where travel is allowed only with a police convoy while going and returning. It is a truly different experience and offers a glimpse of the region's unique environment. - The destinations are absolutely beautiful, and the water sports and adventure activities are fantastic. They are a must-try for anyone visiting the islands. Overall, I highly recommend planning at least 6 nights and 7 days to comfortably explore the major islands and enjoy all the attractions without rushing. Once again, thank you, Peral Andaman, for your outstanding support and making our holiday so special. I highly recommend your services to anyone planning an Andaman vacation!

    Andaman Travel FAQs

What makes Andaman a great honeymoon destination?

Andaman pairs seclusion with variety: empty white-sand beaches and quiet island resorts for relaxation, alongside scuba diving, snorkelling, sunset cruises and bioluminescent night kayaking for couples who want a little adventure. Short ferry hops link the islands, and natural sunset points like Radhanagar and Laxmanpur build the romance in,so a couple can do as much or as little as they like on one trip.

When is the best time for an Andaman honeymoon?

October to May is honeymoon season, and November to April is the peak, with the calmest, clearest seas for swimming, snorkelling, diving and sunsets. Avoid the June-September monsoon, when rough water, lower visibility and choppy ferries make couple activities unreliable, though it is the cheapest and greenest time to visit

How many days are enough for an Andaman honeymoon?

Four nights covers the highlights,Havelock, a day on Neil and Port Blair. Five to six nights is the most popular length, adding a slower pace and a night or two extra on Neil. Six to seven nights lets you add the remote north or certified diving. Fewer than four nights tends to feel rushed once ferry times are factored in.

Which is better for a honeymoon, Havelock or Neil?

Most couples do both. Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) has the famous beaches, the best diving and the widest choice of luxury resorts, so it is the main base. Neil (Shaheed Dweep) is quieter, greener and gentler on the budget, ideal for the slow middle of the trip. Two to three nights on Havelock plus one to two on Neil is the classic split.

What are the most romantic things to do in Andaman for couples?

The favourites are a private candlelight dinner on the beach, a sunset at Radhanagar or Laxmanpur, scuba diving or sea walking together at Havelock, a sunset cruise, and a bioluminescent night kayak on dark nights. Many couples also book a sunrise or sunset photoshoot at Kala Pathar or Laxmanpur.

Which beaches are best for a romantic sunset or couple photoshoot?

Radhanagar on Havelock is the signature sunset beach; Kala Pathar, with its black rocks against pale sand, is the most photogenic for a couple photoshoot. On Neil, Laxmanpur is the classic quiet sunset spot, and near Port Blair, Chidiya Tapu (Sunset Point) is the best evening view before an early flight out.

How much does an Andaman honeymoon cost?

It depends on the travel style and trip duration. Couple-friendly stays start from under ₹6,000 per night for budget and boutique accommodations, ₹6,000 to ₹12,000 per night for mid-range sea-facing resorts, and ₹12,000+ per night for luxury beachfront properties. The simplest way to set your budget is to start with a customizable Andaman honeymoon package and then adjust the hotels and experiences according to your preferred travel tier.

Can couples balance relaxation and adventure in Andaman?

Yes, that balance is one of Andaman's biggest strengths. You can spend your mornings diving, sea walking, or island hopping, and your afternoons unwinding on a quiet beach. End the day with a candlelight dinner or a sunset cruise for a memorable experience. Staying in Havelock for activities and adding Neil Island for a slower pace is one of the easiest ways to enjoy both adventure and relaxation during the same honeymoon.
