Pramod's 6 days trip to Kashmir

The first day was a nightmare We were to spend our night in boat house Anarkali but Zippgo requested me to stay in Golden palace. When I refused they kept on insisting & I gave in because I had no other option at that moment & it was freezing with temperature as low as -3C Some glimpses: We were supposed to get a candle light dinner but after my follow up we got cold served meals. There were 4 chapatis only 3 eatable & after follow up again they could afford 3 more.We slept hungry Out of the 16 hours we spent in the boat house there was hardly 8 hours electricity & we had to do unpack & eat in the dark In the morning we had to leave early but we got breakfast at 10:30 am when I called Zippgo In short I can easily say that the first day was the worst day of my travel life. After all the super bad experience we were in dilemma whether to continue the trip or not. After discussion again with the travel agent & travel triangle we decided to take that risk which in turn proved to be fruitful We took the cab & went to Gulmarg which is about 60 kms away from Srinagar. The trip took us almost 2 hours Gulmarg is extremely beautiful with the snow spread across everywhere, the Gandola ride is must.Major activities are at phase-1 but we covered phase 2 as well from where the mighty Himalayas look extremely beautiful. Don't spend your time in Ice-skating if you have not tried it earlier. However, sledging or Ice moto sports can be tried.Be sure to carry gloves. No need to take a pony ride if you are using Gandola ride. We stayed at the Royal Park Hotel which was very comfortable. The second day was very good The next day we went to Pahalgam which was about 140 kms & took 5 hours,we reached almost at 2pm & took a pony ride to the various points like Kashmir Valley & Baisaran. The pony ride was awesome & we enjoyed a lot.We came back to our hotel Pahalgam retreat & stayed overnight. The hotel is nice with good heating facilities The highlight of the trip was the third day which was a trip to the 3 valleys, Aru,Chandanwari & Betab Valley. These valleys are surrounded by snow & were extremely beautiful. You can search it at the google regarding the importance of these 3 so I would skip it. Chandanwari is a valley surrounded by mountains of snow & a stream of water flows through it,the sound of the water & the scenic beauty is mesmerising. Betab Valley is like a circle filled with snow & trees,a river flows through it.Betab Valley is the most beautiful out of the 3.I would recommend you to skip Aru valley to spend more time in the rest 2 We spent the 4th & 5th night in Srinagar & spent our time in local sightseeing like Shankaracharya temple etc Overall the trip was memorable barring the nightmare of the first day Precautions to take: 1.Beware of the touts 2.Negotiate with each & every one & everywhere 3.There is no need for a guide anywhere 4.Do not purchase quilts & blankets from Kashmir, not worthy, they are the products of Ludhiana 5.If you are visiting in winters no need to go to Nishad,Shalimar Garden,Pari Mahal etc,you will find nothing there but if its summers these garden are must, they are very beautiful in summers 6.Rent a snow boot or purchase it for your stay if winters, you will need them almost everywhere 7.Carry gloves 8.Don't waste time at breakfast, travel early
