Khajjiar Tour Packages

Khajjiar Holiday Packages: rated 4/5 (based on 70 reviews) | Packages starting from ₹29,144/-

Khajjiar Holiday Packages

A Khajjiar tour package pairs the greenest saucer of meadow in Himachal Pradesh with the pine ridges of Dalhousie, and most travellers book the two together. Khajjiar earned the name Mini Switzerland of India for a reason: a single wide grassland ringed by deodar forest, with a small lake at its centre and snow on the Dhauladhar behind it.
It sits about 24 km from Dalhousie, so nearly every real Khajjiar package runs as a Dalhousie-Khajjiar circuit rather than a Khajjiar-only trip. TravelTriangle circuits start from Rs 13,000 per person, run 3 to 5 nights, and every itinerary is customisable through a verified local agent.

Khajjiar And Dalhousie Tour Packages

These are real Khajjiar and Dalhousie circuits, not generic pan-Himachal tours. A short 3-night trip covers Dalhousie plus a full Khajjiar day; a 5-night trip adds Dharamshala and McLeodganj. Prices are per person on twin sharing and every package can be tailored: add or drop a night, change the hotel category, or start from your own city. For the full Himachal spread beyond this circuit, see our Himachal tour packages.

Places To Visit With A Khajjiar Tour Package

Khajjiar itself is walkable in an afternoon, so packages fold in the wider Dalhousie and Chamba belt. These are the stops that show up on nearly every Khajjiar itinerary.

Khajjiar Lake and Meadow

The lake sits at roughly 1,951 m, a small green pool at the centre of the meadow with a floating island of matted grass at one edge. This is the postcard shot people come for, and the flat grassland around it is where horse riding, zorbing and paragliding launches happen. Open through the day, and the one stop no package skips.

Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary

A short drive out of Khajjiar on the Dalhousie road, Kalatop is deodar and fir forest with easy walking trails and a chance of spotting Himalayan black marten, goral, langur or jackal. It is an easy add-on for anyone who wants a couple of hours of quiet forest rather than open meadow, and a popular light trek for beginners.

Khajji Nag Temple

On the bank of Khajjiar Lake, this 12th-century temple built under the Chamba raja Prithvi Singh gives Khajjiar its name. The wooden sanctum carries carved images of Shiva and figures from the Mahabharata on its roof beams. It is a five-minute stop, but a genuinely old one, and it sits right where you park for the meadow.

Dainkund Peak

The highest point around Dalhousie, Dainkund is a short walk up to a ridge with clear views of the snow line on a bright day. Green meadow in summer, white in winter. It is usually done as a half-day from Dalhousie and pairs naturally with a Khajjiar visit on the same loop.

Chamera, Panchpula and the Dhauladhar

Longer circuits add Chamera Lake for boating, Panchpula waterfall near Dalhousie, and views across to the Dhauladhar range from the Kalatop and Dainkund ridges. If you have a spare day, this is where it goes. For the full list of stops and how to string them together, read our guide to the best places to visit in Khajjiar.

Best Time To Visit Khajjiar

Khajjiar works in three moods, and which one you get depends on the month.

March to June (peak): Clear days, warm afternoons and the meadow at its greenest. The most comfortable window for families and for the paragliding and horse-riding activities. Book ahead, this is the busy season.

July to September (monsoon): Fewer crowds and low rates, but hill roads can be slippery and landslide holds do happen. Skip trekking plans in heavy rain.

December to February (snow): Khajjiar does get snowfall in a good winter, and the meadow under snow is the reason many people come. Cold, some road closures near Dalhousie, and worth carrying chains-ready transport.

For a season-by-season breakdown of the wider region, see the Himachal best-time notes on our Himachal tourism guide.

How To Reach Khajjiar

Khajjiar has no airport or railway station of its own, so every route ends with a road leg through Dalhousie or Chamba. Your package handles the transfers; here is the shape of it.

By Air

The nearest airport is Gaggal (Kangra) near Dharamshala, roughly 110 km away, with flights from Delhi. From there it is a scenic road transfer via Chamba to Khajjiar. Amritsar airport is the larger alternative if Gaggal fares are high.

By Train

The closest broad-gauge railhead is Pathankot, about 86 km from Khajjiar and well connected to Delhi and Chandigarh. From Pathankot you continue by cab or bus to Dalhousie, then the short hop to Khajjiar.

By Road

Buses run as far as Dalhousie and Chamba; the final stretch to Khajjiar is by taxi or your package cab. Self-drive and Volvo options connect Delhi and Chandigarh to Dalhousie, and the Dalhousie-Khajjiar road itself is a 24 km drive through forest.

Things To Do In Khajjiar

The flat meadow makes Khajjiar unusually good for low-effort adventure. Most of this happens within a short walk of the lake.

• Horse riding across the meadow, the easiest way to circle the grassland with kids in tow.

• Paragliding with tandem launches off the surrounding slopes for a short flight over the bowl.

• Zorbing down the gentle grass slope, a favourite with families and first-timers.

• Boating at nearby Chamera Lake, added on the longer Chamba-side circuits.

• Trekking the Kalatop trails, moderate and beginner-friendly, best avoided in heavy monsoon.

• Nature walks and wildlife spotting inside Kalatop sanctuary, plus a picnic on the meadow.

How To Choose The Right Khajjiar Package

Four quick ways to pick, each pointing you at the right itinerary.

By trip length: A 3-night Dalhousie-Khajjiar trip covers the meadow, lake and Dalhousie. Want Dharamshala and McLeodganj too? Take the 5-night circuit.

By who is travelling: Couples lean to the Dalhousie Khajjiar honeymoon plan; families and groups do well on the multi-city 5-night route.

By budget: The 5N/4D McLeodganj-Dalhousie-Khajjiar package is the best value at Rs 13,000; the shorter Dharamshala Dalhousie Khajjiar tour is the premium, fewer-stops option.

By season: March to June for green meadows and activities, December to February if snow is the whole point. Full month notes are on the Himachal guide.

What Travellers Say About Khajjiar Trips

Avinash's 2 days trip to Himachal

I booked a multi-city Himachal & Amritsar trip with this tour agency, covering Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Khajjiar and Amritsar and the experience was excellent! From start to finish, the entire journey was smooth, well-organized and comfortable. The cab provided was clean, well-maintai
ned and perfect for long mountain drives. Hotel staff were welcoming, accommodation was very comfortable and the food was excellent. A special mention to our driver extremely professional, polite and knowledgeable about all routes. He drove very safely through hilly areas, never rushed, and always made sure we were comfortable. He also suggested great viewpoints, local eateries and photo spots along the way, which made the trip even better and having a reliable driver truly made the journey stress-free. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a trustworthy tour agency with excellent cab service and a skilled driver! Will definitely travel with them again.

Sureshkr's 8 days trip to Himachal

Everything is good. Alert the travellers regarding activities at the places. Give them the approximate prices for that then they can aware of the changes. It may help them to choose the same. One more thing, at the time of vacating the hotel always early in the morning, the travellers have to skip t
heir breakfast. This is the extra burden of your client. So try to give them some packed food on the day of vacating the hotel. It's all my suggestions to improve the travel experience of everyone. Thanks..... Skiing at Koksar and paragliding at Khajjiar lake.

Manikanta's 8 days trip to Himachal

It was 10 days family trip with Travel Talkies, and it was one of the best travel experiences I've had. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and the journey was filled with scenic beauty, adventure, spirituality, and culture. Special thanks to Manisha Raghuvanshi for coordinating throughout the t
rip and fixed issues immediately. Treated us like a family had close communication each day in WhatsApp and call. Travel Talkies covered Shimla, Kufri, Manali, Kullu, Kasol, Manikaran, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Wagah Border, and Amritsar and it was absolutely amazing! From scenic view from Shimla and snow-capped mountains in Manali to the peaceful vibes of Manikaran and Dharamshala, the scenic beauty of Khajjiar, and the patriotic energy at Wagah Border, every stop had something unique to offer. The entire trip was smooth and well-organized comfortable cab, good hotels with mountain view (except small issues which handled well by Manisha), and a very friendly and skilled driver (Gian and Ravi Thakur made our journey smooth and intresting. Bengani Ankit

Hyderabad

Bengani's 5 days trip to Uttarakhand

To sum up, it was a memorable trip. Right from the drive through the scenic valleys to visiting tourist attractions was an amazing experience. The itinerary was not so well planned. Due to excessive travel time involved between places, it left us exhausted occasionally. ( For instance - Day 7 wa
s planned to check out from Khajjiar ( assuming 8 am) and reach Chandigarh ( to catch our onward train at 3 pm - intimated in advance) which was not practical because it takes 9-10hrs to reach Chandigarh from Khajjiar. Needless to say, travel coordinator was very proactive and responsive to all our queries / requests before and during the trip which contributed to our tension free holiday time. Hotel at Manali ( Tanglewood Villa) was excellent but other hotels ( Vakratunda in Mcleodgunj and Shining Star in Khajjiar) were only satisfactory with no wow factor. Driver was well behaved, expert in driving through the tough Himalayan terrains and was well aware of the routes involved in the itinerary. Paragliding and River rafting in Kullu. Drive through snowy valleys in Khajjiar - Dalhousie. Scenic beauty of the deodhar range of mountain in mcleodganj. Trip with shorter travel time ( in between places) could have been more relaxing and enjoyable.

Tanvipujara's 10 days trip to Himachal

It was a good experience booking with Travel Triangle. Mr. Mritunjay was very kind & helpful. Mr. Surender from North India tours & travels made the booking comfortable & easy. Driver Dharampalji gave genuine local advices & proved to be a good guide. Had a bit dissatisfaction with last moment chan
ge in hotels at Shimla & Dalhousie. Hoping for proper compensation for the same. The vouchers were also delivered late giving us less time to check & react. Apple Paradise @ Manali, Spring Valley @ Dharamshala, Sawera Grand @ Amritsar had awesome food & services- Credit goes to Surender. Gulmarg Regency @ Shimla & Sagrika Resort @ Dalhousie neither had scenic views nor good food- debit goes to Surender. Over all a good experience and would recommend and have future trips as well. River-rafting @ Manali & Paragliding @ Khajjiar are must have experiences.

Harish Verma Verma

Harish's 5 days trip to Himachal

Trip is tiring and not so good. Travel agent has done a good job but not well planned for honeymoon trip. Here are some things I felt bad about. Took 16hr by bus from Delhi to manali. First day honeymoon inclusion, cake is not fresh. didn't eat it. Manali to Dalhousie by Alto even that without AC is
extremely no option. It is 12 hr journey in Alto. Think how much tired you will be after this travel. Hotel in Dalhousie is not so good. Out of two blanket one blanket is smelly one, Old furniture, no mobile charging point, same dinner two days. Last day our travel was from khajjiar to dharamshala to catch bus at 6pm. Driver asked to be ready at 9 Am. Reached dharamshala at 1PM. Driver was willing to leave us hear but after some calls they decided to visit near by temple and market to cut time till 6pm. Waste of time. Time spent in Manali is good. Hotel is good with a quality service and staff.
