Best Time To Visit Fiji

Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination

Embrace the eternal summer in Fiji.

Fiji has a warm, comfortable sub-tropical climate and sees only 2 seasons - the dry and rainy seasons. Even those two seasons are difficult to define within strict boundaries. Like most other islands, the island nation of Fiji is a year-round destination. The weather remains more or less stable throughout the year, with plenty of sunshine and buckets of rainfall. The most popular time to visit is between May and October when the weather is at its best. During these months, the rains are milder and less frequent, the humidity bearable, and the skies a deep, wistful blue.

They are the best months to visit Fiji islands and engage in some thrilling exploration of the ocean. The lush green islands of Fiji offer the perfect set-up for relaxation, romance, or adventure. While the ‘summer’ season is a bit hotter and wetter than the winter months, the variation in temperature and rainfall is mainly observed on the bigger islands due to tall mountain ranges. On the smaller islands, the weather is consistently stable all year round. So, the best time to travel to Fiji is whenever your schedule allows!

Summer Season in Fiji

'Summer' in Fiji is known as the wet season. November to April is when the rains are more frequent, the days shorter, and the nights warmer and more humid. People generally consider this the off-season for tourism, even though thousands of visitors make their way to Fiji at this time of the year. Keep a water bottle with you to keep yourself hydrated all day, as the humidity can be high. Daily temperatures can rise to 31°C, with the average temperature at 25-26°C. January and February are the warmest months of the year. Smaller islands like Turtle Island and Fisherman's Island are places where the weather doesn’t change much throughout the year, and you can visit them without worrying about constant rains.

Monsoon Season in Fiji

May and October form the dry season in Fiji. These months are also slightly colder, although not by much. Even though it is called the Dry season, Fiji receives about 10-12 days of rainfall each month, and the rest are sunny and warm. The season is characterised by short, warm days and afternoon rains that come out of nowhere and disappear quickly. The day then melts into pleasant evenings with fiery sunsets. July and August are the coldest months.
