Climate of Seychelles

Due to Seychelles’ proximity to the Equator, the country has a pleasant weather throughout the year. Daytime temperatures vary a little in different seasons. Milder temperatures on Mahe Island, between 24 and 30 degree Celsius, remain all around the year. May through November is the best time to visit Seychelles. It is an ideal time to explore outdoor attractions and enjoy water sports on the beaches.

Food and Culture of Seychelles

Staple foods in Seychelles include fish and seafood often eaten with rice. Fish-based dishes are prepared in different ways such as grilled, steamed, smoked, and wrapped in banana leaves. Curry dishes are served with rice. Among other popular dishes in Seychelles cuisine are fish curry, saffron rice, fresh tropical fruit like mangoes and coconut, and shark chutney. Coconut water, palm wine, and fresh juices are some of the common drinks.

Basketball is the most popular sport in Seychelles. The folk music of the country features multiple influences, including African rhythms. Seychelles Creole is the main language of the islands.

Fairs and Festivals

Events in Seychelles mainly focus on the Creole culture, originated from the French culture. Travelers can celebrate with the locals by folk dances, music, and food during the La Digue Festival and the Creole Festival. Seychelles International Carnival of Victoria is celebrated in the first half of February month each year. Semaine de la Francophonie celebrates the French culture in mid-March. Beau Vallon Regatta in August and September features yacht races and other water events.

Car and bike rentals are available on Mahe and Praslin islands.
