Each nook, cranny, street, and bylane of Mathura is infused with a rustic, old-world charm and deep spirituality. The city’s temples, shrines, ghats, and forts are exquisite, with ornate architecture, a serene atmosphere, and jubilant celebrations during the festival season. Make it a point to see all these places to visit in Mathura for a perfect trip.

Tourist Places In Mathura

We have listed the best tourist attractions in Mathura here for your ease & convenience. Mathura has an undisputable place in history and mythology, and a spiritual tour in Mathura will help you intimately know the life of Radhakrishna.

Radha Raman Temple

One place you shouldn’t miss out on visiting, especially on occasions like Janmashtami and Radhashtami, is the Radha Raman temple. Krishna is worshipped here as Radha Raman (the lover of Radha). It is an early modern Hindu temple constructed with exquisite and ornate style in the early 16th century. The Shaligram deity in the temple's antechamber is thus more than 500 years old. The temple is one of the seven most revered mandirs in Mathura-Vrindavan.

Location: Panchayat Mandir Shri Radharaman ji Maharaj, Keshi Ghat, Vrindavan

Timings: 8 am – 12:30 pm and 6 pm – 8 pm

Govardhan Hill

Every place in Mathura has stories and legends associated with Krishna’s life. No place exemplifies that more than Govardhan Hill. This is the same hill that Sri Krishna lifted on one finger to protect the villagers from heavy rain and thunderstorms. The Gita mentions that Govardhan is actually no different from Lord Krishna himself. Devotees come here to worship Krishna in the form of Govardhan. They walk around the mountain for 23 km barefoot in a ritual called Govardhan Prakriya. Moreover, it is a serene and picturesque spot!

Location: Aanyor, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: 7 am - 7 pm

Dwarkadhish Temple

One of the most resplendent places to visit in Mathura is the Dwarkadhish Temple. Built in 1814, the temple is relatively new but extremely popular for its grand, intricate architecture and exquisite ceiling paintings. Located next to Yamuna Ghat, the temple and its surroundings are a hub for many religious assemblies and activities. Holi, Diwali, and Janmashtami are celebrated with great zeal here.

Location: Raja Dhiraj Bazar Road, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: 6:30 am – 10:30 am, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Vishram Ghat

A sacred ghat about 5 km from Mathura, this is one of the best places to visit in Mathura for sightseeing. It is constructed on the banks of the Yamuna River, and pilgrims take a parikrama around the ghat. The light of a thousand diyas reflecting in the sacred waters of the Yamuna makes for a mesmerising sight at night. You can also take a boat ride at the ghat and explore the river. The ghat is said to be where Lord Krishna rested after defeating the evil king Kansa, hence the name Vishram, meaning ‘relaxation’.

Location: Choubey Para, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: Open 24 hours, Aarti at 7 am & 7 pm

Mirabai Temple

Mirabai was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna, perhaps the greatest of all devotees. She composed hymns and songs in his worship and devoted her entire life to him. This modest building in Mathura is said to have been where Mira stayed in the early 16th century, composing bhajans, praying, and meditating. The place was later converted into a temple. The main deity here is Krishna, but the temple itself exemplifies the unconditional love that Mira had for Krishna.

Location: Near Nidhivan, Govind baug, Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: 7:30?am – 1?pm, 5 – 9?pm

Birla Mandir

One of the most stunning architectural designs in the city, this temple is a sight to behold and marvel at. The temple is decorated in a style fitting for Lord Krishna with intricate wall carvings and magnificent paintings. A prominent pilgrimage site, the temple sees thousands of devotees every month. Birla Mandir, also known as Gita Mandir, is one of the most serene and meditative places to visit in Mathura-Vrindavan.

Location: Anand Nagar, Mathura, Isapur Banger, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: 5 am - 12 pm and 2 pm - 8 pm

Jama Masjid Mathura

Not many know this, but there is a magnificent Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque) in Mathura, too. It was built in 1661 and features four towering minarets, beautiful mosaic plastering, and stunning intricate carvings. The immense craft and hard work that went into making this structure are evident even at a cursory glance. The beauty and serenity of this place are sure to leave you spellbound. It is one of the surefire places to visit in Mathura if you’re a lover of beauty, history, and art.

Location: Sabji mandi, Chatta Bazar, Chowk Bazar, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: 5 am - 9 pm

Chamunda Devi Temple

One of the best places to visit in Mathura, India, is the Chamunda Devi Temple. This is one of the 51 shaktipeeths in the country and draws a large crowd of pilgrims daily. It is said that a strand of hair from Goddess Mother Jagadamba fell here, but interestingly, there is no idol or image of the goddess in the temple. Many sages and rishis have also meditated in this place and gained knowledge and salvation. The temple is decorated even more beautifully during the time of Navrati and Akshay Navami.

Location: Masani, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: 6:30 am – 12 pm and 4 pm – 9 pm

Kusum Sarovar

The Kusum Sarovar is a graceful water reservoir made from sandstone that reminds one of a bygone era. It is said that Radha and her fellow gopikas would take a bath here. The water is cool and refreshing, and devotees take a dip in the pool to rejuvenate themselves. The pond is surrounded by palatial Chhatris (domes) made in a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles. It is one of the most picturesque sightseeing places in Mathura.

Location: Goverdhan Brahmnan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: 7 am - 6 pm

Raja Bharatpur Palace

Mathura isn’t just full of temples; the palaces and forts also deserve a mention. This is a mid-18th-century palace constructed by the then-king of Bharatpur - Maharaja Surajmal. The architecture exclaims ‘royalty’ with its Mughal and Rajput blend of style. The palace’s walls and pillars are covered in sophisticated motifs and mosaic flooring. The palace is now a museum you can visit - displaying all sorts of royal artefacts and vintage objects.

Location: Bharatpur Gate, Mathura

Timings: 8 am - 4:30 pm

Radha Kund

Dating back to the heyday of Krishna’s adventures in Mathura and Vrindavan, this sacred pool of water symbolises the undying love between Radha and Krishna. The water of the Kund is believed to have magical healing properties. It is said that a single dip in the water is enough to wash away all one's sins. The Kund is one of the primary pilgrimage sites in the city.

Location: Radhakund, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

Timings: 6 am - 7 pm

Kans Qila

Perched on the banks of the Yamuna River, this ancient fortress is a site of historical and architectural curiosity for many. As the name suggests, the fort is believed to have been the stronghold of King Kans, Krishna's maternal uncle and great rival. Today, the fort is a popular tourist attraction in Mathura, inviting history and mythology geeks to its compounds. Even though the place is in ruins now, the structure is still fascinating to many, having been built in a mix of Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture.

    Gowtham Shravan

Gowtham's 6 days trip to Mathura

We recently completed a 5N/6D trip to Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya booked through Travel Triangle. I would like to document this experience in a clear and structured manner. To begin with the positives, the hotel in Varanasi was comfortable and the food quality there was genuinely good. The even
ing Ganga Aarti and boat ride were well arranged and enjoyable. Once we reached the temple, the VIP darshan moved efficiently. The driver assigned to us was polite, respectful, and drove safely throughout the journey. He remained courteous in his interactions and, in certain instances, such as recommending a battery-operated rickshaw in Ayodhya, his suggestion improved local mobility. The final airport drop was smooth and punctual. There were certainly good elements in the trip. That said, the operational gaps were too consistent to ignore. The vehicle provided for the tour carried a white number plate rather than a commercial yellow number plate, which immediately raised concerns regarding compliance for a paid tourism package. While I am not making legal claims, this is not what one expects when booking through a structured travel platform. From day one, there were coordination inefficiencies. At the airport pickup stage, there was confusion before we connected with the driver. More concerning was the recurring pattern across cities where the vehicle would be parked 200–300 meters away from entry points, and we were asked to walk — sometimes on uphill gradients — despite traveling with a six-year-old child and a senior citizen. This was not an isolated instance but a repeated approach in Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya. In multiple cases, when I insisted, the vehicle was able to drop us significantly closer, which indicates that proximity was possible but not initially prioritized. Guest comfort should not require negotiation at every stop. There were also serious itinerary execution issues. Several temples and locations listed in the confirmed itinerary were not initially covered in Varanasi. I had to proactively message and escalate to ensure those places were included. When I first raised the concern, the response was not particularly reassuring, and it gave the impression that coverage of listed items depended on my active monitoring rather than structured planning. If a customer books a package tour, it is precisely to avoid having to supervise execution. Additionally, Subah Banaras was mentioned in the itinerary but never conducted. In Ayodhya, both Saryu Aarti and the laser light show were listed despite occurring simultaneously at different locations several kilometers apart, making it practically impossible to attend both. Listing mutually exclusive events in a fixed itinerary reflects poor feasibility planning. In Prayagraj, Akshayavat was attempted without prior confirmation of operational timings and was found closed upon arrival. As a result, we had to reschedule it to the next morning, which forced an early hotel departure at 7 AM. Although breakfast was included in our booking, we were only able to have minimal items because of the sudden schedule adjustment. This disruption was avoidable had timings been verified in advance. At Anand Bhavan, the vehicle was parked approximately 250–300 meters away on an uphill stretch, and we were asked to walk. This was physically inconvenient and avoidable. Only after repeated insistence were closer drop-offs accommodated at later stops. The VIP darshan arrangement, while smooth once inside, appeared to be handled on the spot. Tickets were purchased after arrival rather than pre-arranged. I had clearly requested an all-inclusive package, and yet multiple payments were made on-site. If certain charges are excluded, that should be transparently communicated beforehand. The experience felt reactive rather than professionally pre-coordinated. In Ayodhya, the hotel was seemingly unaware of our arrival at the time of check-in, and we were made to wait approximately thirty minutes for room allocation. The room condition was underwhelming, with visible stains in the bathroom and a non-functioning AC. The breakfast area the following morning had a noticeable mosquito issue. While we chose not to escalate on-site due to fatigue and tight scheduling, such basic quality control and coordination are responsibilities that fall within the agency’s oversight when curating a package. Additionally, although the quotation mentioned a driver-cum-guide, the experience largely reflected a driver-only role unless I specifically requested coverage of listed locations. To be clear, the individual driver remained courteous and cooperative; the concern appears to stem from insufficient briefing and planning standards at the agency level. In summary, the issue was not attitude but execution discipline. There were good moments in the journey, but the repeated need to insist on closer drop-offs, monitor itinerary coverage, verify timings, arrange practical logistics, and absorb unplanned disruptions significantly reduced the value of what was positioned as a structured, all-inclusive 5N/6D package. When a customer chooses to book through a platform like Travel Triangle, the expectation is professional coordination, proactive planning, feasibility-aligned itineraries, and comfort-oriented logistics. This trip had potential to be excellent, but the cumulative operational gaps made it merely average. I hope this feedback is reviewed seriously and used to strengthen quality control and partner accountability standards going forward.
