How to Reach the Trevi Fountain in Rome

The Trevi Fountain is a beautiful attraction located in the heart of Rome.

It is at the meeting point of three Ancient Roman era streets: The Via delle Muratte, Via Poli, and Via De Crocicchis. Depending on where you are coming from, there are several ways on how to reach Trevi Fountain. The most popular ones are using a train, bus, or walking. Below is a look at these means of transportation.

Traveling to the Trevi Fountain by train

One of the best ways of exploring Rome, including the Trevi Fountain, is to use the subway train. There are two stops close to the fountain – Barberini and Spagna. To get to any of these stops, you can catch a train at Termini, the main train station in the city.

Tickets for the train are affordable, and you can buy one in any of the several vending machines at the Termini station. You can also buy a ticket from one of the shops at the station. When buying the tickets, you can choose between a single journey ticket, a one-day pass, a 48-hour pass ticket, a 3-days pass, and a 7-days pass.

Using a bus

In addition to the train, another great way on how to reach Trevi Fountain is by bus. To get to the fountain, you can get a bus from Termini. However, the streets where the fountain stands are too narrow, so buses do not pass through there. Fortunately, buses from the Termini station stop at Via del Tritone, just a hundred yards or so from the fountain.

Just like with the train, when traveling by bus, you will need a ticket. You must also buy the ticket in advance from vending machines or the shops found around the Termini station. Tickets also vary in terms of price and the type of pass. Some tickets can even allow you unrestricted access to both buses and the subway train, among other benefits.

Walking to the Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain is not very far from Termini – just a twenty-minute walk distance. Therefore, if you are feeling a bit adventurous, you can decide to walk instead of catching a bus or train. While walking to the fountain, you can explore the winding streets of the city and make stops at several shops found along the way.
