Tips for Kunzum Pass

  • If travelling by bus, confirm the running status one day before and arrive early to grab a seat since there is no booking service
  • It is better to hire an SUV if travelling by taxi because of the condition of roads
  • Take precautions to avoid acute mountain sickness (AMS)
  • Start early in the morning to avoid higher water levels near the nallas
  • Stock account food supplies because the Kunzum Pass has no eateries.

My stay in Kaza at Nyma Mudhouse was fine until the morning I checked out as the caretaker of the property peeped through the bathroom window while I was in the shower. I raised it with my travel agent as well as the owner of the property and it was dealt with, however, it still haunts me till date. Would suggest if you thoroughly check and verify the hotels/homestays before agreeing to do business with them as a tourist trusts you and goes ahead with your travel plan. Rest everything was just splendid especially my stay in CHHITKUL at Avika Homestay. Their hospitality, warm and welcoming service as well as the feeling of being treated like I belonged there touched my heart!

Hrishikesh's 9 days trip to Spiti

It was an amazing trip. As requested driver was really good. The hotels were also great at most of the places. Hotel Deyzor in Kaza was the best and Manali hotel was bit disappointing especially when there are thousands of other hotels options you have to offer in Manali. Food was also good at most of the hotels except Manali hotel. Overall the trip was well arranged as per our requirements, very happy with the cooperation of the travel agent Kiran and Travel talkies.

*** poor service from travel agent as well as travel triangle *** The travel agent helped in planning our itinerary very nicely. We chose all our hotels and even gave them the quotes and type of rooms. But even after that they were not able to book the chosen hotels and in couple of hotels, the rooms that were provided to us were different from what we had discussed. On top of it the travel agents were of no help when called during the trip ( Kiran and Abhitabh). Biggest disappointment, the travel triangle designated person (Rohan Kaul) never picked up the call when we tried to contact him as well.

It was a wonderful experience for all of us - lots of great memories were made. Travel talkies gave 5star service All the arrangements made were up to the mark. The hotels and transportation arrangements were excellent. The Hotels we stayed in had amazing scenic views, were very nice and clean, staff served us the best including clean and yummy food! The two drivers arranged for our group were very cooperative, polite and friendly. Their driving skills were excellent and safe. There are no accommodation facilities near Kunzum Pass and the nearest facility for stay like hotels or guest houses is in Batal, 12 kms towards Lahaul Valley or in Losar, 18 km towards with Spiti Valley.

 

Some of the places to visit near Kunzum Pass include the temple of Kunjum Devi and the Chandratal Lake.

 

No eateries serve food at the Kunzum Pass and hence one should stock up on food before starting their journey.
