One of the major attractions of the city are the many temples in Jaisalmer. A place of religious pilgrimage for Jains and a place for travellers of other faiths to understand the beginnings and philosophies of Jainism, Jaisalmer is one of the spiritual homes of Jainism. Any list of famous temples in Jaisalmer is fairly long and has to begin with the beautiful Jain temples inside Jaisalmer fort. Built at various times from the 12th Century to the 15th Century, these temples are also made out of yellow sandstone and have intricate carvings of the sort that would leave visitors spellbound.
