About Arki in Solan
Himachal Pradesh is an attractive tourist spot that welcomes millions of visitors every year. The state is at the peak of its tourist visits during the months of June and July because while the rest of India is living in the sweltering heat, the citizens of Himachal Pradesh are greeted by the cool breeze in the morning. One such tourist-thronged place is Arki. This is the smallest town in Himachal Pradesh and is nestled in between the Himalayan ranges and at the base of the Shivaliks. The town is at an elevated height of more than 4000 feet with pleasant temperature and innumerable tourist spots.
Tourists have many activities that they can take part in and enthralling places to visit in Arki Himachal Pradesh. There are activities like hiking, skiing, sightseeing and mountain climbing that you can undertake for an exhilarating adventure. Arqi Himachal Pradesh is especially known for its mesmerizing tourist spots that offer the best sights and major history snippets that are related to the town.
Tourists can visit the Arki fort that has so many historical incidents related to the Rajput and Gorkha clans or the well built and maintained temples like the Lutru Mahadev, Mutru Mahadev, Bhadrakali, Jakholi Devi and Baniya Devi.
The name ‘Arki’ literally means ‘sunny place’ as the town has rays of sunshine contributing to its pleasant weather and not allowing it to go all misty and cold. Arki also has an annual Sair fair which takes place for two days. This fair was popular for its bullfighting matches but now it holds other activities like wrestling matches and food stalls to ravish your hunger.
Arki Fort
Arki in Solan is majorly popular for its massive and rock walled fort. This fort was made during the rule of Prithvi Raj Chauhan. It had been passed down to his Rajput and Rana descendants but was later taken over by the Gorkha rulers. Now, the Arki fort is referred to as the ‘Arki Palace’ and has been turned into a hotel for tourists. This fort allows its visitors to get a view of the beautiful Himalayan ranges while enjoying a steaming cup of coffee. The fort accommodates and takes care of the living accommodation and touring facilities of tourists. Arki fort has been associated with my great rulers and that is why it holds such a significant historical place in the hearts of the locals. The fort is a must visit on your next trip to Solan because of its stunning architecture and presence of courtrooms and colorful paintings on its walls that depict a major amount of the colorful history of Arki.
