Hampi Travel Guide

Dotted with numerous temple complex ruins of the Vijayanagara Empire, Hampi is located near the River Tungabhadra.

There is a lot about Hampi - the UNESCO World Heritage site that fascinates vacationers. The place is one of India’s most known archaeological destinations. Its temples, monuments, and monolithic sculptures magnetize tourists from far and wide to admire its exceptional workmanship. The historical ambiance of this place is enhanced with the rugged landscape that attracts vacationers to take up various exciting activities along with sightseeing. This account provides essential information about Hampi that one might require prior to visiting it. So, those looking forward to visit this city shortly will find this concise and crisp Hampi guide.

Weather: Located in one of the southern states of India – Karnataka, Hampi experiences sweltering summers, pleasantly cold winters, and pleasurable monsoon. Hampi weather is the best during winter months from November to March. Monsoons, from July to September also present a pleasant time to visit the heritage site. However, one needs to be extra cautious while walking on the boulders. Hampi weather in June is scorching, so it is suggested not to venture out during this summer month in Hampi.

Food: Hampi serves a delectable variety of culinary treats to its visitors. Since Hampi is known for the religious places non-veg is difficult to get. The most savored Hampi food includes badanekayi (stuffed brinjal), ellu chutney, ranjaka (a type of chutney), kosambari (dal, cucumber, carrot dish), bele kaalu (sprouted dal), and saaru (a type of soup). Hampi special food comprises two or three desserts and fried dishes such as Aambode or Bonda with a meal. Meals are considered completed when rice curd is served at the end.

Nightlife: Hampi tourist information would be incomplete without mentioning its nightlife that takes tourists for a tour of the town at night during the Hampi Utsav or Vijaya Utsav. Visiting the ancient city beautifully illuminated is an experience to cherish. In addition to the well-lit monuments, vacationers also visit the lightened bazaars of Hampi such as Virupaksha Bazaar.

Stone artefacts, Lambani crafts, leather crafts, musical instruments, and banana fiber crafts are amazing gift items and souvenirs. One of the many ancient markets in this historical city - Vittala Bazar is a prominent name. Hampi Bazaar is a kilometer long street located in front of the Virupaksha temple, where local and imported goods are available. The latter can be considered as one of the ancient malls.

Festivals: Hampi details would be inadequate if festivals celebrated here are missed out on. Celebrated for three days, in the month of November, the most important festival of Hampi – Hampi Utsav, also known as Vijaya Utsav is keenly awaited. The festival involves dance, drama, music, and processions echoes the entire ancient town.

City attractions: Hazara Rama Temple, Krishna Temple Complex, Kondana Rama Temple, and Malyavanta Raghunatha Swamy Temple speak leaps and bounds about the Hampi temple treasure. Lotus Mahal, Zenith Enclosure, Dasara Dibba, and King’s Balance are among the historical marvels of the site. The heritage place articulates the rich history about Hampi. Apart from sightseeing, Hampi is famous for various exciting activities such as staying in a hut on Hippie Island, climbing the hills to catch stunning views around, witness breathtaking sunsets, and riding a ferry on Red River with statues of the rocks.

Lakshmi's 5 days trip to Hampi

Had a great time at Mangalore. As usual Travel Triangle at its best. This is my 6th trip with Travel Triangle. Beginning till the End Travel Triangle was supportive., The trip was organised by M&M Cabs and Mr. Mahesh had co-ordinated really well with us for the trip. The driver was very good, co-operative and supportive. Couple of hotels were not so great, we had to go out to a different place for breakfast. Otherwise we had a memorable trip

Puppala's 4 days trip to Hampi

The itenary can be planned better. There are mis communications that has happened. Few places are tempirarily closed/in operational but still they are added in itenary. For one place visit there is completely mis communication has happened what I get from travel agent and what I heard from cab driver are quite opposite. .. Overall it's a good experience but can be made better. In quote shared it is mentioned as hotel stay inclusive of dinner but the hotel stay is booked without dinner.

Mahesh's 4 days trip to Hampi

The overall tour experience was good. The cab driver was polite, punctual, and guided us well throughout the trip. The hotel stay was comfortable; however, we were not provided with the balcony room as per our reservation. Although the issue was resolved the next day, such matters should ideally be addressed by the travel agent immediately to avoid inconvenience. Looking forward to better coordination in future trips.
