How To Go To Cape Point

At present, there is no public transportation to get directly to Cape Point. So, one has to hire a taxi or rent a car to reach the location. Here is how to get to Cape Point from Cape Town. Cape Town CBD is 70km away from the Cape Point, which means it will take around an hour and a half by car or taxi. The nearest station is Simon’s Town, but it is 25 km away. However, there are scooters and bicycles for hire to ride to the Cape Point address. Another ideal option is to hop on the red sightseeing bus by Cape Point Explorer which runs regular trips to Cape Point in luxury air-conditioned coaches with on spot bookings. This trip will include a stop at Boulders Beach for penguin watching as well.

By Car/Taxi: If you are driving to Cape Point, choose to stop by Boulders Beach and head to Simonstown en route for scenic views. It takes around one and a half hour to get to this place. Though, time may vary on the traffic also. However, if you hire a taxi, take note of the fact that you need to pay an entrance fee for the taxi driver as well, unless he drops you at the gate, which is around 15 Km away from the parking lot.

By Bus: Book a red sightseeing bus provided by the Cape Point Explorer that offers a full day excursion to the major attractions in the town, including a visit to the popular Cape Point. It is advised to book your spot 24 hours in advance.

A suggestion: there were some legs where we were informed we need to take Uber (to & fro Robben Island & Table Top Mountain). For the kind of spends done by us (Rs 3 Lakhs +) overall, it would have been helpful if these too could have been accommodated in the package. It is the nuisance value of having to book, wait etc. Also more minute detailing of the Full day Cape Peninsula tour could have been share earlier - we got it on landing from the local guide and it was very educative. Why not share this ahead of time? Some travel agencies give a backpack or travel kit (the amount of Rs 3 Lakhs is HUGE) with your branding. In this case it is singularly absent. Wonder why? We stayed in 3 hotels - Emerald Guest house in Johannesburg (Rating Poor to Good only); Kruger Park Adventure Lodge ( Excellent); Holiday Inn Express at Cape Town (Excellent).
