About Nightlife Guide In Sydney

Even with the strict lockout laws in place, Sydney still manages to have a great time during the night. As the sun goes down beyond the sparkling harbour, Sydney nightlife comes alive with all the various options and possibilities. From club-hopping to night-shopping to simply people watching, the night time in this dazzling city is quite a thing to enjoy.

Here are the places to enjoy the best nightlife in Sydney, Australia.

1. Stargazing at Sydney Observatory

Whether you are a Star Wars fan or simply a stargazer at heart, Sydney Observatory will blow your mind. After the day hours on select dates, the facility allows visitors to view the stars and planets from the observatory. If the sky is not clear, the 3D space theatre will be at service. But for a night-time tour of the Observatory, one has to pre-book online or over the phone.

2. Shopping, dining and wining at Chinatown

Among the night markets in Sydney, the one at Chinatown every Friday from 4-11 pm is definitely the best and brightest. Stalls are set up with all sorts of souvenirs and cheap street food – yum cha, teriyaki, sushi, Sichuan and more. On other days, Chinatown Sydney night market area can be visited for sake wine bars and a whole range of Asian cuisine restaurants.

3. Strolling by Darling Harbour

With a view of the magnificent Sydney harbour and places for drinking, dining and a promenade to walk on and enjoy the view, Darling Harbour is one of the places to be for the best nightlife in Sydney. As a bonus, there are waterside fireworks every Saturday.

4. Frankie’s Pizza

Frankie’s Pizza is hands down one of the quirkiest night-out places in Sydney. It is a basement bar, a live pizza place, a pinball game parlour and a live music haunt all at the same time. Come the weekend; the live music changes to rock-n-roll and crazy dancing till late at night.

5. Stonewall

Every city has its own share of nightclubs, but Sydney took it a notch higher with Stonewall. This place was built in honour of the famous gay bar in New York, the attack on which triggered the modern LGBTQ movement. The Australian counterpart is a three-level gay bar, painting a rainbow in the Oxford Street and hosting drag shows on weekends.

6. Oxford Art Factory

Oxford Art Factory is Sydney’s living, breathing a combination of partying, music and art. It hosts locals as well as international stars, followed by a nightcap which warms both the heart and the body. The Live Art Space, the Gallery and the Cube are the three separate performance spaces in the nightclub, which often acts as one single unity for major gigs.

7. Enjoy a Broadway show

If you have a taste for it, there is nothing quite like a Broadway comedy or musical. Sydney Opera House is the home to all performance arts in the city. Among other places, there are The Riverside in Parramatta and Glen Street Theatre in Belrose. Find out what they are playing during your stay in Sydney and enjoy this beautiful form of art for an evening.
