Vietnam, is a long, thin country in Southeast Asia. Its neighbouring countries are China to the north, Laos and Cambodia to the west. Once a lesser-known destination, Vietnam has become widely popular family tour spot in recent years. With Hanoi consistently ranked among the world's top 10 destinations, one can now find tourists as far as in Ha Giang, one of the most remote mountainous provinces.

Due to its long history as a tributary state of China, as well as several periods of Chinese occupations, Vietnamese culture is heavily influenced by that of Southern China, with Confucianism forming the basis of Vietnamese society. The Vietnamese language also contains many loan words from Chinese, though the two languages are unrelated. Buddhism remains the single largest religion in Vietnam. Nevertheless, Vietnamese culture remains distinct from Chinese culture as it has also absorbed cultural elements from neighbouring Hindu civilizations such as the Champa and the Khmer empires. The French colonization has also left a lasting impact on Vietnamese society, with baguettes and coffee remaining popular among locals. You will get to visit a number of destinations on this family tour in Vietnam. Cu Chi is about 40 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City in Southern Vietnam. The Cu Chi Tunnels are an elaborate underground community made up of 250 km of tunnels and chambers below the city. The tunnels were dug with simple tools and bare hands during the French occupation in the 1940s, and further expanded during the Vietnam War in the 1960s to provide refuge and a defensive advantage over the American soldiers. Hoi An is a beautiful city in Vietnam, just south of Da Nang. The Old Town of Hoi An is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnamese: Thành Ph? H? Chí Minh), commonly known as Saigon (Vietnamese: Sài Gòn) or by the abbreviations HCMC or HCM, is the largest city in Vietnam and the former capital of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam). Hanoi , the capital of Vietnam, and also its second largest city, is a fascinating blend of East and West, combining traditional Sino-Vietnamese motifs with French flair. It is largely unscathed from the decades of war, and is now going through a building boom, making it a rapidly developing city in Southeast Asia. Consistently ranked among the world's top 10 destinations, the city and its surrounding region get more tourists every day. Ha Long Bay (also "Halong Bay") is in northern Vietnam, 170 km (105 mi) east of Hanoi. The bay is famous for its scenic ocean karst topography and is often included in lists of natural wonders of the world. Ha long Bay is a bay located in the area of the Gulf of Tangkia, north of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Tam Coc, is in the middle of the rice fields and lime peaks. The area is somewhat similar to Halong Bay (it is well known as "Halong Bay on Land"), but more accessible. The main attraction of Tam Coc is the boat ride between the cliffs of the river and bicycling. One of Vietnam's most spectacular sights. It's an easy bicycle ride here from Ninh Binh, with no hills.

Find it hard to believe that this places was once a victim of a cruel war!

The trip starts with a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral, the historic Central Post Office, followed by exploring the Reunification Palace, and the remarkable site of the War Remnants Museum.

For the second half of the day we will take you to Cu Chi located at 60km from HCMC. Cu Chi is now a popular spot for both Vietnamese & foreign tourists. It consist of a network of over 200 km of tunnels, which became legendary when they played a vital role in the War. In their heyday, the tunnels were functioning underground cities including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers & kitchens. Today, ducks and water buffalos happily coexist in the rivers along the side of the road. However, the peaceful rural rice paddy scenery belies the area’s violent history. You will find it hard to imagine the destruction, damage & defoliation over this whole area, caused by bombing and mines. There is plenty of evidence of the fierce battle that took place here during the 1960s when Cu Chi was a "Free Target Zone".

Start your tour in the morning, before entering the tunnels you can watch a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. You will spend the next hour exploring the tunnels. After the tour, enjoy tea and cassava (guerrilla’s food during the war). After the day’s excursions you will return to Sai Gon.

This is my 3rd trip with TravelTriangle. We were a group of 3 families consisting of 12 members. The tour itinerary was arranged on consultations with Mr Karan of TravelTriangle. We are thankful to him for referring Bamboo Hat Travels of Vietnam to us. Ms Alice of Bamboo Hat Travels, who arranged th
e tour, was immensely helpful & rendered impeccable service. The cost of the tour was reasonable. The hotels were good & the transport arranged were upto our satisfaction. The best part was that Ms Alice was available on phone all the while for any assistance. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with the tour operator.

Though the trip was good, hotels decent, we are a tad bit disappointed with the Travel agent Bamboo Hat. In Cambodia everything was perfect. Our coordinator and guide Mr. Sou Wat was there and kept us well informed about our schedule and was there with us till we got into the airport. It was the per
sonal touch which made all the difference in leaving us with pleasant memories. Unfortunately, the personal touch was missing in Vietnam. We did not meet any representative from Bamboo Hat through the entire trip in Vietnam. Since Ms. Sophie had some family emergency, she could not be available, but someone else from the agency could have done the needful. Secondly, we wanted our separate transport and not been made part of a group. The impression we had that that it would be separate except while going to Halong. Traveling with a group is restrictive and not what we prefer. Again I will refer to Cambodia where we had our exclusive vehicle. However if I ignore my grievances, I would like to say that except for a couple of instances, things were pretty well organized, the vehicles good, food good, guides excellent especially Mr. Anh and Mr. Tranh who were very informative. Jerry and Shon were good too.

Hotel in Hanoi was little bit congested. Otherwise whole trip was a Nice experience. Tour operator Henry was very prompt. Answered every question quickly. Tour guide in Hanoi has to improve his English language skill. It was very difficult his words. Rest tour guides had good language skills. Would
like to travel again with S Viet.

The trip was very good. Everything was planned well except few things. At Bana hills we had to leave the place an hour early from the schedule time in the itinerary. That place is huge and even a full day would be less to explore it. But we were given only few hours to see all the things and so we
had to rush to all the places there. The room on the cruise at halong bay was smaller than what was shown in the itinerary. Infact the cruise itself was changed so what I checked while making the booking was of no use. Though the was not bad but I think I paid for something even better. The activities planned on the cruise was not the same as mentioned on the itinerary. So they should mention what is actually going to happen there. I had lot of expectations but didn't get those experiences. Again at Hanoi city tour, all the places mentioned in the itinerary was not covered something else was shown to us which was not mentioned. At Hanoi they booked a business hotel for us which mostly has two single beds. So on our 1st night of stay those bed were joined together which was not at all comfortable. Later we requested to change the room and after returning from halong bay we got a new room which was a lot smaller than the previous one with a double bed. Instead we could have been booked a different hotel of same standard which is not a business hotel. Apart from this the trip was well. We covered most of the important places in Vietnam. We were given a hotel in Hoi An instead of Da Nang which was a great suggestion we loved the place and even the hotel there was good.

All the hotels were good and as per expected except the GK Central Hotel at the Ho Chi Minh location as we asked for CIty view room adn we were provided with the opposite one. Also the Dal Vostro Hotel hospitality of the hotel staff was extremely good but the room was very small. The tour company
could have been more helpful in providing the information of more areas which were not included in the itenary as we came to know about such places after we reached the destination. It will be great if you guys can include all this things in the itenary when you suggest people next time. Otherwise every services provided were really good.

We had a good trip with travel triangle TT Radhika was very supportive in decision making & helping although she left, we didn’t got such passion & support from her substitute Megha. Somehow we went ahead with TT as Eric frm Asia Authentic was very responsive. We had a good trip , only construc
tive feedback which we wish to give that our trip was planned little awkward as we wasted time for Visa in Thailand which is of no use as same day we went Vietnam. No one has guided us about that . Hotel at Danang was OK not very good as we expected sea resort . Taxi we got twice poor having uncomfortable seats . We wud have preferred a little descent ones to take rest in transit . Cruise at Halong Bay was spelendid Specially Kayaking & scenic beauty. Bana Hill Trip was also good Hotel Siam Bayshore was good.

Bamboo Hat tours helped us plan the perfect holiday in Vietnam. Fisi the agent was extremely responsive and helped us with any query or changes we required. The trip was very well planned and helped us get a balance of group tours and free time to explore places on our own. All the hotels were cent
rally located and had great amenities. The Hot An Latern market and the Bad Tu Long Bay cruise will definitely a moment which will be etched in our memory for a long time. Pick ups and drops were done in a timely manner and we were never hassled during any part of the trip. Sophie helped us with any coordination we required through the course of the trip. She was extremely polite and always helpful. We had a wonderful time and would recommend Bamboo hat tours to others as well.

Gopalakrishnan's 8 days trip to Vietnam

The trip was organised as planned. Lucy of S Viet was quick to respond to any queries and to sort out any issues we faced while on tour. A bit more information sharing upfront would be more useful, instead of us asking the tour timings everyday. The Pacific Angkor hotel at Siam Reap was quite nice,
but it is not suitable for vegetarians. There was nothing on the breakfast for vegetarians except fruits and bread, as even the Soup and Porridge was non-veg. Also the hotel is near Airport and far away from city, that we had to pay for TukTuk more than the cost of dinner everyday that we stayed there, as the hotel restaurant options were very limited.
