    Price For The Month

TravelTriangle has served 3000+ travelers for Taiwan

    Overview

The last quarter of the months is the time when the holiday season begins and Taiwan in October is flooded with tourists. The wind’s starting to cool down a little and that end-of-the-year buzz seems to have permeated everywhere. Maybe you’ve been working hard all throughout the year, saved up some money, and now you’re itching to travel somewhere, take in the wonderful sights of places you haven’t yet explored. How about a nice, tropical getaway, right in the thick of fall season? If that sounds like a good idea, TravelTriangle’s tour package to visit Taiwan in October is your cup of tea. The temperature stays within the range of 23? to 26?, practically begging you to explore the outdoors. What do you do once you’re out and about in Taiwan, you ask? Here’s a snippet.

    Sun Moon Lake

One of the most iconic locations in all of Taiwan, Sun Moon Lake is located in the Yuchi Township of Nantou County in Taiwan. With a surface area of 7.93 sq.km., with a depth of 27 m, it is the largest water body in all of Taiwan. Since the island of Lalu is right in the middle of the lake, its east side gets a peculiar shape when seen from above, making it resemble the sun. That’s where it gets its name from. The Thao tribe, indigenous to Taiwan, lives in the lake’s surroundings.

    Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Monastery

The Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Monastery is the largest in Taiwan and is also one of the most famous charitable organizations. This monastic order has its presence far and wide internationally, with centers in Kolkata and New Delhi as well. The order preaches Humanistic Buddhism, a philosophy that builds on Chinese Buddhism, and attempts to modernize and integrate it into today’s world. To that end, it’s a common sight for visitors to spot the use of modern technology all throughout the monastery. Lodgings are available for those who wish to stay here. Moreover, those who are wondering what authentic, vegetarian Buddhist cuisine tastes like have the opportunity to try it here. Magnificent structures, such as the Gate of Perfect Ease, the Gate of Liberation, the eight pagodas, and even a pond filled with lotuses, the most intriguing item housed in the museum are supposedly the tooth relics of Buddha himself.

There’s so much to do, such as a scenic trip through Kenting National Park, experiencing the Lio Ho Night Market, and more. The tour package’s itinerary should convince you to head to Taiwan in October.

A divine start to your journey

Day 1 of the tour hits the ground running and you will be driven to Sun Moon Lake with the help of our representative. Basking in the splendour of the lake view is the Wenwu Temple. It is dedicated to two important figures from the region’s history - famous Chinese philosopher Confucius referred to as Master of Pen, along with Kuan Ti (the deified figure of the Chinese general Guan Yu, considered to be the God of War), referred to as the Master of Sword. Thus, the name of the shrine came to be known as the “Wenwu temple”, roughly translating to “Literature Warrior Temple”. Near the Sun Moon Lake, we also have another famous attractions such as Xuanzang Temple and the Holy Monk Shrine. Once the sightseeing is done, we check into a hotel near Sun Moon Lake and turn in for the night.

From the vibrant city to idyllic greenery

Once you’ve got some breakfast in your belly, we’re on a 104 km journey from Kaohsiung to Kenting National Park. It is home to many species of migratory birds. It also houses Taiwan’s only botanical garden. On a 37-mile drive along the coral-rimmed shoreline, taking us along three of Kenting National Park’s edges, we’ll see some of the park’s famed attractions. The Oluanpi Lighthouse also known as the Eluanbi Lighthouse, is situated on Cape Eluanbi, Taiwan’s southernmost tip. Along the southern edge of this region is the Maopitou Coastline, a popular spot for activities such as clamming, snorkeling and other aquatics. After taking in the national park’s sights, the tour continues along the South-Link Highway, to Taitung for an overnight stay.

The grandeur of the long coastline

Once breakfast is done, we continue along the east coast of Taiwan, the appropriately named East Coast National Scenic Area. Contained within the 170 km stretch of this area is a pocket-sized stretch of the coastline called Siaoyeliou (Xiaoyeliu). Sansientai (Sanxiantai), meaning “Terrace of the Three Immortals” is another feature of the Scenic Area, and is a nature reserve. Sites like this, as well as Shitiping (Stone Steps, carved by sea erosion), are why the Scenic Area has earned the tag of “Taiwan’s last unspoiled land”. There is also the Cave of the Eight Immortals to visit here, a series of holes in the cliffside, formed due to the constant pummeling from the sea waves. The caves also function as altars for the Gods, placed there by local worshippers through the inner network of caves. The road ends in Hualien late afternoon, where we stay overnight.

    Breakfast

A day in the teeming woodlands

Post breakfast, we enter Taroko National Park. Taroko Gorge, the park’s marquee attraction, makes for quite the scenery, with imposing mountain peaks thousands of feet above. The Eternal Spring Shrine, another of the park’s popular features, is a marvelous construction, right on top of the Huangchung Falls. The Yanzikou trail referred to as Swallow Grotto due to the natural nesting places cut into its sides by the Liwu for spring swallow birds, provides a vivid look at the Taroko Gorge. Other notable features of Taroko National Park are the Tunnel of Nine Turns, the Cimu Bridge, flanked by marble carvings, as well as the Tienshang youth activity center, for hikers and such, interested in staying overnight in these beautiful surroundings. The Marble Factory in nearby Hualien may interest those looking to pick up a souvenir, such as the famous cat’s eye beads. A drive along the Su-Hwa Highway, which takes us through the 8-mile-long Hsuei-Shan Long Tunnel, get back to Taipei and board a flight to your destination.
