Airways: The nearest airport to Gangtok is Bagdogra in west Bengal and helicopter services are available to Green field airport Pakyong (Gangtok).

Almost all airlines have services to Bagdogra airport. Bagdogra is well connected to all major cities of India. From Gangtok, you take a taxi to reach Melli.

Railways: If you are commuting by train the close by railway stations are Siliguri and New jalpaigiri. Melli is 60km from Siliguri approximately 1.5-hour drive.

Roadways: If you are choosing Road then Sikkim is well linked through good roads. Regular bus services from Siliguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong are directly connected to Gangtok and other cities of state.

The price may vary depending on the package. If you are choosing camping/rafting together price per day will be 5500 Rs for adult and 3500 Rs for children including food and accessories for rafting. There are 2 day and 3 day packages and the prices will be 7500 Rs and 9500 Rs respectively. For children, the price is same for all the packages.

You can also do Kayaking in river Teesta. But for kayaking experience is required. Time favorable for river rafting in Teesta is between January and June. The weather is relatively stable at these months. You should avoid the time of July to September as Teesta will take a ferocious form during monsoon. During winter the water will be icy cold. For non-swimmers, the rafting options are: Melli to 29th Mile (1.5 hours) and Melli to Kalijhora (3 hours). For swimmers, the options are: Tarkhola to Malli (2 hours) and Tarkhola to 29 Mile (3 hours).

One more rafting destination is there near Gangtok and its Makha town. A circuit of around 11-km, rafting starts from this quaint little town and continues till Rangpo through Sirwani. Above all, what attracts the adrenaline junkies for river rafting in Gangtok is the astounding views while challenging and maneuvering the ferocious rapids of Teesta River.

Other than river rafting, you can do paragliding, Yak safari, Ropeway cable car, Trekking, Mountain biking are the activities you do in this area.  A variety of cultural activities can be witnessed being performed by the confluence of river Teesta & Rangeet in the month of January (Magh) 13th to 15th known as “Maghey Sankrati Mela.
