About Manly Beach in Sydney
Manly Beach Sydney was named by Captain Arthur Phillip for the indigenous people who lived there. Manly Beach Australia is one of the most visited beaches in New South Wales and one of the northern beaches of Australia. Manly Beach Sydney Australia is divided into three sections, namely, Queenscliff, North Steyne, and South Steyne. There are many commercial establishments within walking distance from the Manly Beach in Sydney Australia which makes it a source of income for a lot of people. Manly Beach NSW is also a prized surfing region with seasoned surfers visiting the beach every year.
Significance of Manly Beach:
Manly northern beaches are a must visit location for surfers both locally and internationally. It is also the location of the Australian Open of Surfing which is held every year in the month of February. Manly Beach New South Wales Australia was the venue for the first world surfing tournament in 1964. At the Northern edge of the beach is the Queenscliff Headland where there is a submerged offshore reef which creates the kind of waves prized by surfers. There are also diving and surfing schools in the region which employs experienced and certified divers and surfers to teach tourists on how to dive and surf. The beach is also the favorite location of marine biologists and whale watchers as whale sightings are common here. There are whale watching tours which depart from the Manly Beach Wharf during Whale watching season. The whale watching season is between mid-May to mid-November. Manly Beach is one of the safest beaches in Australia and has a significant number of experienced lifeguards and volunteer lifeguards who patrol the region. The Manly Sea life Sanctuary is another tourist attraction which is near the beach. It includes three exhibits, namely, Penguin Cove, Shark Harbour, and Underwater Sydney.
