One of the forts in Jodhpur, which is a rage amongst the tourists, is The Mehrangarh fort. This fort was from where the Rathore rulers of the House of Marwar ruled from. It is a humongous structure placed on a 150 metre high hill. 7 gigantic gates have to be crossed to reach the fort, no wonder it was chosen as the location from where the rulers could rule. In the olden times, this kind of security ensured that the invaders did not infiltrate easily. There are several small fort palaces in the city, and can be explored if one feels really adventurous.
Adjacent to the Mehrangarh Fort is the Jaswant Thada. It is a memorial, constructed out of marble and is an architectural beauty. It is a building that displays the genius of the sculptors of that time and shows how brilliantly human minds can work.
The Umaid Bhawan Palace is another historical place in Jodhpur. It apparently has over 300 rooms, massive right? The Rai ka Baag Palace is a lesser known palace in Jodhpur, although exquisitely made.
