About Amber Room: We give you a slight history of the Amber Room, to get to know the place better before you do visit, if you plan to.

Construction of the Amber Room, simply a magnificent piece began in the year 1701.It was an International collaboration of the highest order as the room was designed by German baroque sculptor Andreas Schluter and constructed by the Danish amber craftsman Gottfried Wolfram. On a visit to the room, Peter the Great admired it exceedingly and then later got it as a gift in 1716 from the then King of Prussia, Frederick William I, presenting a Prussian-Russian Alliance against Sweden.

The Amber room was installed in the Winter House in Saint petersburg after it was shipped to russia in 18 pieces where it stood as a part of the European art collection. It glowed with six tons of amber and other precious stones post the 18th century renovations, this amazing room is estimated to worth 142 million dollars today.

The Great Essence of this monument comes from the fact that its presence was deeply affected by the Nazi Looting of 1941. Adolf Hitler, then Germany’s ruler decided to attack the Soviet Union and take all the priced art galleries and everything else that was precious, they strongly believed that the Amber Room was made by the Germans and for the Germans too and captured the whole piece by packing it into 27 boxes and then assembling them at Konigsberg’s castle museum on the Baltic coast.

There is still the same region on the Baltic Coast that appears to be empty, which is definitely a mystery. Meanwhile, re-construction efforts began in 1976 and it was not completed on Russian soil until 2003, when the new version was revealed and then later became open to public use, creating a large tourism hub within Russia, for visitors of European origin or elsewhere, to come catch a glimpse of one of the world’s wonders.

Attractions

The gold-plated monument in itself is a wonderful attraction for those interested, but inside it, there are many stellar things to see.

In its re-decoration or new version in 2003, there were many modern changes and some pieces of artifacts from the Previous Amber room have been managed to be restored, but not to great success as most of it got ruined during its time in Germany.

Angel Statues and many other as such – There are plenty of statues on the corners of the walls at the Amber Room, which make for great attractions.
