How to Reach Odisha from Mumbai

By Train: The railway network is very well developed in Odisha, with the major railway stations being in Bhubaneshwar, Puri, Banspani, Chilka, Rupsi and Markona among several others. There are more than a dozen trains, such as Konark Express, Rajdhani and Coromandel Express that connects Mumbai to various cities in Odisha, namely Puri and Bhubaneswar. Taking a little more than 31 hours or so on an average, taking a Mumbai to Odisha train is a good option for a comfortable and budget trip.

By Road: Odisha is connected to all the other parts of the country via well-maintained roads, and the NH53 or the NH65 and NH16 connects Mumbai to Bhubaneshwar in Odisha. It takes a little more than 35 hours to cover the 1,771 kms distance, from Mumbai to Bhubaneshwar, thereby making it at least a 3 day road trip just to reach the destination. Apart from being tiring, this mode of transport also has the potential of being very expensive, so it is best avoided. Regular state-run and local buses are easily available as well, connecting Mumbai to a few cities in Odisha.

By Air: There is one international airport in Odisha, the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneshwar. There is one regular Mumbai to Odisha flight, as well another daily flight to Jharsuguda from Mumbai. It takes generally a little more than 2 hours to cover this distance, if it is a non-stop flight. Airlines such as IndiGo, Spice and Air India operate at the airport.
