The name Hawa Mahal itself is taken from the extraordinary structure which in itself is a mesh of small windows through which the cool breeze passed through the entire palace. It was constructed in this way to keep the entire palace cool during the hot summer months. Although it is stated as an important reason behind the peculiarity of its structure, however the actual reason is that the palace was constructed in this way to allow the ladies of the royal house to witness the festival celebrations on the streets meanwhile not being seen by outsiders. Hawa Mahal is entirely constructed out of red and pink sandstone in the form of a pyramid which is redolent on the shape of a crown. It features 953 tiny, decorated windows, popularly known as ‘jharokhas’. There are five floors in total inside the Mahal which has a unique chamber each. At its entrance, you will find a gorgeous fountain which welcomes you to the inside of the Hawa Mahal and let you capture stunning views of the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Siredeori Bazar.
