Mcgregornick's 4 days trip to Kerala

Our 4 day tour of Kerala was pretty good. The tour is very prepackaged with the driver taking you to the sites he thinks you’ll want to see (the same ones everyone else is sent to see) so it doesn’t suit individuals looking to get off the beaten track. For example, we stopped at the same waterfalls as everyone else, went to the same tea museum and national park as everyone else and were scheduled to go to the same dam as everyone else (we opted out). There is no asking you what you want to do or getting to know your preferences; you are treated as just another uneducated tourist to fleece. Our driver was courteous but initially used his phone a lot while driving (videos, talking and texting) but stopped after I asked him to. Our private Alleppey houseboat was clean and beautiful but the cruising part itself was disappointing. We were only underway for a total of 3 hours out of our 20+ hours on board, meaning we were docked for 15 hours, tied up to shore. You get dropped off at the boat, cruise for 30 minutes to a small shop downriver, get the hard sell on some prawns (2000 rupees a kilo), cruise for 30 more minutes, tie up at shore, eat lunch (very tasty), crew naps, after 1.5 hours stopped, you start to cruise onto the main body of the lake, cruise for 2 hours in what is ultimately a loop and return to the exact place you boarded the boat. You tie up and sit there until 9 am the next morning, despite our itinerary clearly saying we were to cruise from 8-9 am. The boat is cool but, again, you feel like you’re getting cheated out of the 5 hours of cruising you are promised. Also, when you see 50 other boats right next to you doing the exact same thing, it takes away from the experience. Being docked on shore for the vast majority of the trip, you wonder what’s the point of getting a houseboat? Hotels in the area are much cheaper and with a day cruise, you would get to see the same things we saw. The company rep did not often respond to my messages during the trip, instead choosing to ignore rather than help solve issues. Overall, Travel unbounded isn’t bad but they aren’t great either; you leave with a lackluster vacation experience.

We managed to have a good trip thanks to Travel Unbounded team. Rain played spoil sport in Houseboat. The houseboat was given in Kumarakom while the vouchers had it in Allepey! Houseboat needed much of cleanliness. But food was delicious and crew were very nice. TT has very bad cancellation policies. In a human society plans do go haywire but TT deducts hefty amounts in case of cancellation. And the tour guide Varsha was simply unreachable and messed up entire thing when she picked call. High time TT to become customer friendly else no point paying a platform aggregator substantial amounts for almost nothing... But Travel Unbounded helped ensure overall good expereince. Driver Mr Praveen was excellent gentleman. Happiness was when the weather unexpectedly becomes clear in Munnar and houseboat. Travel agent does not pick our call only WhatsApp chat communication. We can’t type each and every thing when we are in urgency. And did not receive my cab details and house details till last minute and that too until you ask. No proper planning. And also cab driver they assigned don’t know other than local language, this made my journey quite difficulty. Overall below average experience.

Menta's 4 days trip to Kerala

Kerala trip was OK but not the best one as i experienced with the travel Mania team and with the cab driver as well . The trip was not that much expected due to Heavy rains in August first 10 days....the very 1st day wasted totally by spending in cab due to flood type of conditions that too we are in middle of Munnar, due to that entire trip was changed all of a sudden, ghat section roads are covered with landslides and tree slides. finally we cancelled the Munnar trip and went to Alleppey by eod. But travel guys didnt give proper info regarding to the hotels as the plan changed, and they are asking extra charges around 3.5 K due to plan changes and cancellations of the munnar hotel...due to the change happened in itenary. the 2nd day was House boat, that god here also bit rainy but safe.....boat was not that much expected ...its like very old but cook (as we are purely vegetarian) and boat driver was good . and the very 3rd day reached trivendram around 3pm, we saw padmanabha swamy temple and museums...night staying at kovalam . the next day(4th day) it was totally wasted as we have plenty of time to go for side seeing in Trivendram (as we have a 1 year old baby) there is some thing called Magic planet its just 28 KM from trivendram. here driver was not at all OK as he is saying it was not in the itanary. he is arguing with us like u can call to ur travel guys as its not in itanary.....so i called to travel guys and they are charging 1K extra amount for the site seeing. ( last time we went to BALI( indonesia) driver showed so many places without hesitating any thing that too not in Itanary as well) . am not understanding how lazy people are there in our society to show the side seeings ....driver is not at all helpful here . . we have flight at 9:30 PM, so we have lot of time from morning 11AM to evening 7 PM. Finally we are asking to driver atleast go to Padmanabha swamy temple one more time. for this also he is not OK and saying that as per the itanary we have to show the surroundings only once not twice in same area and location.
