Overview
The Kedarnath tour package from Kerala takes you to the hill town of Kedarnath located in the lap of the Himalayas. This small town in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand is surrounded by tall, snow-capped peaks and lush green landscapes. Every year from April to November thousands of Hindu devotees gather to make a three-hour uphill journey to the Kedarnath Mandir dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a place of religious significance for the followers of Hinduism.
The Kedarnath Mandir is the highest among all the jyotirlingas (symbolic representations of Lord Shiva). It is the first and the remotest of the four Chhota Chaar Dhaam pilgrimage sites, the others being Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. It is located at a height of 11,755 feet above sea level, near the Chorabari Glacier from which the Mandakini river flows.
Kedarnath Mandir is believed to have been built by the Pandavas who ruled over Hastinapur and later reconstructed by the great Hindu saint Adi Shankaracharya, who left his mortal body at the young age of 32. His samadhi or burial is right behind the temple complex.
Other places of importance in Kedarnath are Hanuman Mandir and Bhaironath Mandir. Kedarnath Mandir is open only between April and November and remains closed after that due to bad weather. It is believed that when the Kedarnath Mandir is closed, Bhaironath presides over the region.
With our special Kedarnath tour package from Kerala, you can experience a wonderful spiritual journey to all these places at an affordable price.
Haridwar is approx. 125 km away from Kedarnath and is another important religious place. It is the gateway of the Chhota Chaar Dhaam pilgrimage. A special attraction of Haridwar is the Ganga Aarti which takes place every evening at Har Ki Pauri. While at Haridwar, you can also do Ganga Snaan, perform puja, and do teerth yaatra to Kankhal Ghat, Manasa Devi Mandir, and Chandi Devi Mandir.
