Pachmarhi, popularly known as' Satpura ki Rani' (Queen of Satpura), is situated at 1100 m in the middle of the Satpura range, beautifully embellished by nature and history. Legend says that during their exile the Pandava brothers visited Pachmarhi.

Pachmarhi is a beautiful hill station and offers magnificent views all over the places. In 1857, Captain James Forsyth found this beautiful region in the hills. This most famous Madhya Pradesh hill station is a treasure residing in harmony with serene waterfalls with ancient Buddhist period caves. Visit a temple for Lord Shiva in the lap of the harsh earth, with Brahma, Vishnu and Ganesh statues as well. The cave is believed to be the spot where Demon Bhasmasura was destroyed by Lord Vishnu. Inside the cave, natural water streams create a sacred tub, swimming in which one's sins are to be washed away.

Another gem is the Pandava caves. These are sandstone caves, hewn by Buddhist monks, are thought to have been built between the sixth and tenth centuries CE, and are named after the five Hindu epic Mahabharata members. Such old rock shelters include rugged carvings and foundations as well as Buddha and Bodhisattva sculptures. A railing staircase leads down to a beautiful greenhouse with an intricate topiary.
