    Overview

Maharashtra’s Konkan region has a wealth of sights for those who choose to visit this idyllic, coastal region. The Arabian Sea to the west and the Sahyadri Mountains to the east run along its perimeter, giving you a varied, wondrous topography to feast your eyes on, in every direction you look. On Ratnagiri Ganpatipule tour package, explore beautiful places in Maharashtra. The Konkan strip is home to a vast number of peoples, hailing from different communities and ethnic groups, each with their own stories to tell, brimming with their numerous unique cultures and traditions. Those visiting this region find that the port city of Ratnagiri makes for a convenient home base from which to explore all the wonders that Konkan has to offer. Among these wonders is the sacred town of Ganpatipule and the untouched beaches at Pandre Samudra. Through TravelTriangle’s Ratnagiri Ganpatipule tour package, you’ll be able to experience these destinations and more, throughout your five-day stay there.

    Ganpatipule

The main attraction in the town of Ganpatipule is the ancient temple dedicated to the titular deity, Lord Ganesha, or Ganpati-Bappa, as he’s more affectionately known. The temple houses a 400-year-old Ganpati idol, which is said to have risen up from the dirt, and pilgrims often walk along the temple's borders as a gesture of prayer. The craftsmanship of the temple building, sitting at the base of a hill, and the idol are magnificent on their own. Turn around, and you’ll find yourself facing a beautiful, immaculate beach, with crystal blue sea water and shimmering sand stretched before you for 3 kilometers.

    Pandre Samudra

The Konkan region is often referred to as Maharashtra’s own Goa, and nothing symbolizes that comparison more than the beach and the surrounding beauty of Pandre Samudra. It has everything one could want from a coastal getaway. Dazzling sand, clear waters to splash around in and relax, palm trees lined along the coastal stretch, even restaurants along the edge, for those looking for a delicious meal to be paired with the picturesque view.

We’re barely scratching the surface of the experiences on offer in the Ratnagiri Ganpatipule holiday package that TravelTriangle has cooked up for those of us who’ve been struck by the travel bug. Visits to Bhatye Beach and Thibaw Point, are in your future if you choose to journey with us.

The journey begins with a long drive

Day 1 of the journey commences with a long drive down to Ratnagiri. The road may get a bit twisty and winding in some parts, but the sights that the mountains will show on the way there should help settle your stomach. We’ll arrive in Ratnagiri sometime in the evening. The remainder of the day is mostly to get you settled in and primed for the journey in the coming few days. Check into the hotel, square away your luggage, maybe take a shower after what might end up being a tiring trip. Enjoy your time for the rest of the day at your leisure. The day ends with an overnight stay at the hotel in Ratnagiri.

    A village of divine beauty

The day starts off with breakfast, after which we head to the endearing town of Ganpatipule. Located some 25 km towards the north of Ratnagiri, the town is a showcase of divine beauty in a few ways. The Ganpati temple, which makes for a popular pilgrimage spot for devotees is a splendid sight, with wonderful architecture adorning the structure of the site and the grand Ganpati idol within it. There’s also the Ganpatipule beach that the temple is facing towards, one of the many beaches that show off the coastal beauty held within the Konkan region. The tour around this lovely town should take up most of the day, and considering the enchanting view the town is blessed with, one can hardly complain. The day should wind down by the time evening rolls around, and considering that there’ll be a lot of walking involved, the rest of it is available for you to rest your feet and relax. We return to Ratnagiri for another overnight stay in the city.

In and around the port city

The tour’s third day starts off with breakfast once more and takes you to some wonderful locales within the port city of Ratnagiri and its vicinity. This is the most packed day of the tour, so make sure the breakfast is hearty because we have a lot of ground to cover. Pandre Samudra, meaning “White Sea” in the local tongue Marathi, is a beach about 6 km from the city. As the name suggests, the beach is located in the small town of Bhatye, approximately 4 km from Ratnagiri. Visitors are also offered a sweeping view of some popular neighboring destinations, such as the Mandvi beach, as well as the famous Ratnagiri Lighthouse. The day’s activities aren’t done yet, with a visit to Thibaw Point next on the agenda. It is regarded as one of the best sunset points around the city, offering a near-boundless view of the surroundings, from the city to the Arabian Sea. One would be remiss if they traveled all the way to Ratnagiri and didn’t visit the Tilak Ali Museum. The museum originally used to be the ancestral home of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, before being converted into a monument to his life and legacy. A key figure in the Indian freedom struggle, Lokmanya Tilak continues to be a beloved personality in these parts.

    Choose your own adventure

The penultimate day of the tour is for you to spend it on your terms. There’s been a lot of travel and exploration over the past couple of days, so if you so choose, you can just not get out of bed, and spend the whole day curled up. You’re on vacation, after all. If you want to go somewhere completely new, like the Marine Aquarium and Museum, or Jaigad Fort. You have it all to do if the lure of adventure still calls to you. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you don’t stray too far as the day ends with an overnight stay in Ratnagiri.
