Vladimir Lenin, also known as Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, was a towering figure and a revolutionary, who led the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 and established the world’s first communist state, the Soviet Union. Undavalli Caves are four-storey caves, found in the 7th century and are perfect examples of the rock-cut architecture of the Buddhists in India and are associated with the Vishnu Kundin Kings of AD 420- AD 620. Located about 8 km from Lenin Statue in Vijayawada, these caves are 29 metres long and 16 metres wide and were believed to be used by Buddhist monks as rest houses. The first storey has shrines dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma, and the walls on this floor are adorned with frescoes depicting scenes from mythologies. The second storey has a rectangular pillared hall with a shrine of Lord Vishnu. The lower level resembles the Jain abode, which has many chambers and Tirthankara sculptures.
