Twice a year the International Monetary Fund releases the data of world’s richest countries. The calculation is done considering the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of their inhabitants. This year’s list of the world’s 29 richest countries has just surfaced and it, for sure, underlines the economic prowess of these nations. The list released by IMF in April primarily focuses on the income and purchasing power parity (PPP) per capita. Thus, these countries might look tiny in size but still, they have made it large.
The PPP takes into the account the cost of living and inflation rates to calculate standard of living in these countries. While this list of 29 countries mostly features small countries in the top 10, it is also interesting to see that many of them depend massively on immigrant workers who don’t even have a resident status of the country. Therefore, such citizens haven’t been considered in the GDP calculation.
