There is no non-stop flight from Pune to Srinagar, so your package flight makes one stop, usually in Delhi and on some dates in Mumbai, Bengaluru or Chandigarh. The quickest connections take about 5 hours gate to gate. Most take 6 to 8. Your agent books a morning departure from Pune International Airport (Lohegaon) so that you land at Srinagar's Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport by early afternoon, where our representative meets you at arrivals.

Two things are worth knowing before you fly. Srinagar airport screens every car at an outer gate and passengers again inside, so on Day 7 you leave the hotel about 3 hours before departure. Kashmir Tour from Pune: 7 Days Day-wise Itinerary

Day 1: Fly Pune to Srinagar | Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh

Your morning flight from Pune connects through Delhi and lands at Srinagar airport by early afternoon. Our representative meets you at arrivals and drives you to Hotel Golden Tulip in Hyderpora or a similar hotel. Check in, take a short break, then head out to the gardens on the banks of Dal Lake, overlooking the Zabarwan Hills: Nishat Bagh with its twelve terraces and Shalimar Bagh, about 3 km further along the shore. In winter, when the gardens shut by about 5:30 pm, keep it to Nishat alone. The white marble Hazratbal Shrine, Chashme Shahi, Pari Mahal and the Botanical Garden move to Day 6. Mughal gardens close around sunset, so keep the day short and unhurried after an early start from Pune. Dinner and the night are at the hotel.

Day 2: Sonamarg Day Trip | Thajiwas Glacier and the Sindh River

After breakfast you drive north-east through Ganderbal and Kangan, beside the Sindh River, about 80 km and 2.5 to 3 hours each way. Sonamarg sits at about 2,800 m, and its name means Meadow of Gold, with snow on the surrounding peaks for most of the year. From the main meadow, take a pony or walk up to the Thajiwas Glacier, where kids can sled on snow even in May and June. Pony and sledge rides are at your own expense, and the rates are fixed by the local association, so agree the price and the route before you start. The Z-Morh tunnel keeps Sonamarg reachable in winter, but heavy snow can still shut the road for a day, and your agent can swap in Doodhpathri if it does. You are back at the Srinagar hotel by evening for dinner.

Day 3: Srinagar to Gulmarg | Gondola Day and an Overnight in the Meadow

After breakfast, check out and drive about 50 km to Gulmarg in Baramulla district, through Tangmarg and pine forest on the last climb. Gulmarg, the Meadow of Flowers, sits at about 2,650 m and is India's main ski resort. Ride the Gulmarg Gondola (at your own expense). Phase 1 climbs to Kongdori, and Phase 2 continues to the shoulder of Apharwat at about 3,950 m. From November to March, the stretch from Tangmarg needs a chained vehicle, paid separately. Check in to Hotel Hilltop, opposite the ice skating rink, or a similar hotel, and stay the night in the meadow after the day-trippers have left.

Day 4: Gulmarg to Pahalgam | Pampore Saffron Fields and Awantipora Ruins

After breakfast you check out and drive to Pahalgam. It is about 140 km, back down through Tangmarg and round Srinagar, so plan on 4.5 to 5 hours on the road with the stops. On the way you stop at Pampore, Kashmir's saffron town, where the fields flower purple in late October and early November. The next stop is the Awantipora Ruins, a ninth-century temple built by King Avantivarman. The last stretch climbs through pine forest beside the Lidder. In Pahalgam there is time for a walk along the river before dark. Later, check in at The Chinar Resort & Spa in Laddi Veersiran or a similar hotel for the night.

Day 5: Pahalgam at Your Pace | Betaab Valley, Aru and the Lidder

This is the slow day of the trip, with no hotel change, which families with parents usually value most. Your package cab can drop you only in Pahalgam town, so for the side valleys you hire a local union taxi at the Pahalgam taxi stand (at your own expense). Betaab Valley, about 15 km up the road, is a green meadow cut by the Lidder and walkable for all ages. Aru, about 12 km from town on a separate road up the West Lidder, has short pony rides and views of the peaks towards Kolahoi. Chandanwari opens when snow and security allow, so ask at the stand on the day. The Baisaran meadow has stayed closed to visitors since April 2025. Families with small kids often keep the afternoon free for the riverside park in town. Dinner is at the hotel.

Day 6: Pahalgam to Srinagar | Shankaracharya Temple and Dal Lake Shikara

Check out after breakfast, ideally by 11 am, and drive about 95 km back to Srinagar, 2.5 to 3 hours, so you reach the temple road well before it closes to cars at 5 pm. In Srinagar you go up to the Shankaracharya Temple on Shankaracharya Hill, also called Takht-e-Sulaiman, about 300 m above the city, with the whole Dal Lake laid out below. The Hazratbal Shrine and Chashme Shahi fit in this afternoon, with Pari Mahal and the Botanical Garden if time allows. In the evening comes the 1-hour shikara ride included in your package, past the houseboats and the floating gardens of the Dal. Shop for pashmina, papier mâché and dry fruit at the Boulevard markets, then return to Hotel Golden Tulip or a similar hotel for dinner and your last overnight stay.

Day 7: Fly Srinagar to Pune

If your flight leaves after noon, take an early shikara between 6 and 7 am to the floating vegetable market on the Dal, where boatmen trade lotus stems and greens straight off their boats (paid locally).
