About Shopping Guide In Singapore

The skyline of Singapore itself is a testament to the fact that the island is dotted with numerous shopping malls. Shopping in Singapore is an important part of tourism, and the Lion City does not disappoint its visitors. From top end malls in sky-high buildings to shops and shacks of the local market on the streets – Singapore markets have everything for one person and something for every person.

Here is a collective but not exhaustive list of shopping places in Singapore one should not miss visiting while in the country:

1. Orchard Road

Anyone who has been to Singapore can readily testify – Orchard Road is the most dynamic place in Singapore to shop. The 2.2 km stretch of road is the den of shopping malls in Singapore – ION Orchard, Paragon Shopping Centre, Orchard Central for international designer brands or Far East Asia for cheap fashion and cheaper food. The malls are filled in between with bards and restaurants where one can go in for refreshments after shopping.

2. Haji Lane

In complete contrast to the shine and sparkle of luxurious shopping malls in Singapore, Haji Lane is all about quirk and rusticity. Tucked in between lanes in the Muslim Quarter of Singapore, the Kampong Glam neighborhood, Haji Lane is a pretty, toy land lane, far away from the rest of the dazzle of Singapore. Here one can find small boutiques and vintage shops, with colorful doors, windows and walls selling even more colorful items. Fashion, antiques, photographs, furniture, books, vinyl records, curios, watches, accessories, jewelry – Haji Lane is an offbeat treasure land of all things to buy in Singapore.

3. The Shoppes, Marina Bay Sands

The spectacular shopping complex of the Marina Bay Sands is not only about buying and selling – it is ambiance and experience at play together. This Singapore market has giant glass windows, open atriums and a central waterway system with boats. Every floor till the 57th one at the top with a view of the Bay has international brands of every type, from high street fashion to designer sports brand to global jewelry chains.

4. China Town

China Town cannot be possibly explored in a day, but one can always try. New tourists have a heavy chance of getting lost in everything authentically Chinese – both literally and metaphorically, at this Singapore market. From the typical Chinese art and craft, wall hanging, statues, carpets, candles, fashion and accessories to street-side savories – China Town is a never-ending party within itself. In China Square, every weekend there is a central flea market selling everything under the roof second hand and in good condition. Anyone looking for the flea market in Singapore should visit this.

5. Little India Arcade

On the already bright Serangoon Road, the Little India Arcade is a stretch of shops with even brighter orange façade, selling Indian and Arabian clothing, jewellery, electronics, furniture, home decors, artwork, incense sticks, herbs, spices and listless things in its narrow alleys. It is the best place for cheap shopping in Singapore.
