We travelled to Guwahati, Shillong and Cherrapunji , the trip was quite comfortable. We travelled for 5 days driver was quite experienced and hostile he knows all the good places to visit and good restaurants for food, we tried all kind of food and overall, it was an awesome experience. The hotel (SJ International) in Guwahati was quite small, the extra bed taken all the space, other category of rooms was not available, even food was not good. The hotel in Shillong (Tree Top) was quite spacious but complimentary breakfast was average. Stay and food at Cherrapunji was good.

Hello, All in all, I would say we had a very wonderful experience in Meghalaya, and a safe one too. This will be a detailed review of my 6D 5N stay in Meghalaya from 25 Feb to 1 Mar. 2024. The driver Hatim Ali picked us up at the airport around 11.30 AM when we landed. We started off to Kazhiranga, and the first day was entirely travel, as Kazhiranga was quite far away and there are highway speed checks and animal crossings, so can't really reach Kazhiranga anytime before 6 hrs of travel. Also, sun sets very early, around 5.30pm, so all plans need to be made before that. The stay in Kazhiranga, Dhanshree Resort was excellent, with amazing food. Our only regret was that we stayed here for just one night. Next day. we did the Jeep safari. at Rs.4000 per Jeep. It was a 3 hour safari through the Central range. and it was worth it. But that's that. There is nothing else to see or do in Kazhiranga. We started off to Shillong right after the Safari. We reached Shillong around 6pm on the 2nd day. The place we stayed here was Treetops residency. We had to climb up the stairs, to reach the entrance. the receptionist greeted us well, and showed us to our rooms. The room was big and cozy, and had heaters. This is much needed, as temperatures drop to 6-7 degrees. The only downside to this day stays was the food. We ordered food from the hotel, and we were disappointed. Food is not good here. On the third day, we travelled to Meghalaya around 8am in the morning. It was just 57kms, so we reached early. Now this was the best day of the entire trip. First we visited the Arwan caves, which was amazing. Then, we went to Noh-kalikai falls. Despite water levels being low, the location and the view was mesmerizing. Then we visited the Masmui caves. The limestone cave was even better, and we spent some good time here. We went to see the Seven sister falls, but water levels were too low. Also, Thangkharang park was closed, when we visited at 4pm, so our driver took us to Eco park, which was good. There is a view point, and lot of area to walk around, in the setting sun, and worth to spend some time here. We wrapped the day, and checked in at our stay, La Kupar. The cottage is good, with neat and cozy rooms. Having wooden walls, its much warmer and fresh. the food was served to our room, and was average. Nothing spectacular. Next day, we visited the Garden of Caves. Now this is a spot we cannot miss in Sohra. A total of 11 amazing spots, including caves, view points, waterfalls, this Garden is truly a feast for our eyes. But beware, we do have to walk a lot, and it takes around 2 hours to complete. Then we made our way to Maylynnong, and trekked a little to the Living root bridge. This is a natural phenomena, and worth the visit. After this, we visited the cleanest city in Asia. We wrapped the day, with stay at Riwar cottage. This being a very remote place, cannot expect much luxury here. The cottage was small but clean. The food in the night was tasty, and the staff were good and responsive. Next day, we went to Dawki in the morning, for the famous Umngot river boat ride. This was the highlight of the trip. On the borders of Bangladesh and Meghalaya, this place is truly a sight for sore eyes. Beware, ask your boat paddler not the veer towards to the Bangladesh border. There is a huge cloud always, and they pass dirty remarks. My wife faced a situation, while we were on the boat. As we did not understand their language, there was nothing much we can do. We finished the ride, and travelled back towards Shillong, through Jowai. The car ride was good, and we visited Krang Shuri and PheePhee falls on the way. This would have been post rainy season, water levels were low. We visited the Laitlum canyons on the way back. This is a view point, with deep gorges. Amazing time here, with photo shoots. Then we travelled towards Shillong. As we reached early. we visited Ward's lake. Amazing place. Also, we went to the famous Police bazaar, the flee market of Shillong. Then, we stayed at TreeTops Residency. Again, disappointing food. Ordering via Zomato was the only option at 09:30 PM for us. On the last day, we got up late, and made our way towards Guwahati airport. Our driver showed us a temple on the way, and we had lunch, and were dropped at the airport. I would like to really appreciate our driver Hatim Ali, he was truly a gentleman, and made sure our stay and journey was safe and pleasant.

We had a very bad experience at the start of our trip. The cab driver told us that he was not aware that we were going to Shillong and he cannot go to Shillong. We had wait in the middle of our trip and call our travel agent multiple times to get it sorted. Finally the driver agreed to proceed with the trip. However our travel agent was very polite and tried his best to make our trip comfortable. Apart from the 1st day, there were no issues with the rest of our trip

My driver was amazing. Very kind and considerate. About my stays I loved staying at La Kuper inn, Sohra, Cherrapunjee. The hospitality and guest friendliness won my heart but La Castle in Shillong wasn’t a good experience. They didn’t provide proper duvet or blanket for the driver neither did they arrange hot water for him in spite of repeated calls they just kept on saying ‘we are arranging’ but failed to do so. Also, the driver room wasn’t covered properly my driver had to stay up whole night as the room was pretty airy and it was really cold out. Apart from that my travel was amazing.

It was our first trip through Travel Triangle and we had chosen Indeman Travels' itinerary for Meghalaya. We didn't know what to expect, but we were happy with the whole trip. As we were 2 women travellers, we were concerned with the safety aspects not having travelled alone to the area before, but everything was safe and went smoothly. Our cab driver, Mr. Pranab Das was very good and took us everywhere safe and sound. Had a great experience with him! Treetops hotel in Shillong turned out to be the best amongst the 3 stays we had in Meghalaya and also the best food. In terms of cleanliness all 3 stays were very good, even when it was in a remote location. Although the amenities of the stays went down with each destination, it was understandable considering the remote locations. However, our only complaint was the food at La Kupar Inn, it was quite poor in taste. Also they did not provide any bathroom essentials such as soap/toilet paper. But otherwise it was a decent stay and the room was good. All in all, an absolutely great trip - both in terms of organisation as well as the place itself. Must visit - but be prepared to walk/hike a lot!

Visited Assam (Gawhati, Kaziranga) and Meghalaya (Shillong, Cheerapunji and Malwaylong). Overall experience was good. Positives - To my luck, the cab (Swift Dzire) was brand new and very humble driver - Babu. He made my trip extremely happening and i should mention that he is a guide cum excellent driver. Negatives - Rooms were not so good to the price. - Hotel Rituraj was good. Clean and tidy. - Tesco Resort was good. Had to change room for water problem, food was just ok. - Magvaris Comfort Inn Shillong was ok (same bf everyday), less staff and limited resources. - The_Roots_Guesthouse in Meghalaya - had a problem with checkin since payment was not done by travel triangle and had to deal with issues myself. Neither Pravin from Travel Triangle or Bhashkar from Indeman received my calls. Same happened to other travelers also. Hotel person was adamant since he had bad experience with travel agency. Not sure if i was told, but i paid for all parking myself. Entry ticket i agree anyway.

Our trip to Shillong with TravelTriangle was a good one. The pickup from airport was on time. The driver was experienced for the route and the terrain. Drop at the hotel was on time. The hotel was serene, amidst the greens. Overall it was a great trip. What worked: Timely pickup and drop, trained and well behaved driver, very helpful hotel staff. What was lacking and could be better: Drivers did not know the tour itinerary in detail, they just had an idea. So we had to tell them what was included and what was not. We did miss some of the planned sites due to this. The condition of tempo traveller was not good either. There was no call or coordination from Travel Triangle or the tour operator during the trip to esquire how the things were going. Hotel needs reboot of its washroom hardware.

overall it was a great experience. cab driver was very good with us. we stayed in 3 different hotels. 1) Treetops residency Shillong which was best. staff were polite and very friendly. breakfast served on time 2) Briency by LA Kupar inn . a nice property 7 km away from city.very much isolated place with only JIO network and no wifi. rooms and food are good bt wont recommend it due to above reasons. 3) Steam side homestay in Mawlyong near Cleanest village.. please dont go for this property as the staff who was there did not have any manners. was very rude with us and mainly with our driver. brreakfast timing was 8 am but we had to wait till 8.30 am. we can adjust with time but the way of speaking with guests was missing in the staff. so please try booking another homestay in the area. the right time to visirt north east would be octobers as mostly all the waterfalls are dry during december time. many places are added in the itenary but not possible to cover all of them as it gets dark by 5:30 pm and travel time between places is far . Bhaskar Dubey from Indaman travels was very promt and helped us wth the booking very well.

except the loftninn hotels and kaziranga hotel Hotel in cherranpunji and poenix hotel in shillong were bad. We come to planner for a good plan i hv paid 70+ for this trip...which could hv been better with other travel experts. no satisfied with hotels and plan...could hv suggested kabri hotel when we went to dwaki visit..its travel agencies responsibility...to suggest places of stay. when our budget was open and had no constrainsts. Better plan and itearnary would be better. Not happy.

Travel agent wanted to make money only. Mr Ankit from Travel Kutir does not care about customer satisfaction.. Hotel was not good at Kaziranga..so we complained about it..but he did not provide any discount..Even after paying the full amount, he called the driver and asked to stop the car on our way from Shillong to Guwahati airport because we had given negative googlr review about Mr Ankit from Travel Kutir..He even gave us Dhamki for taking us to Police Station, so eventually we deleted that review from google..after that only car drove us to Airport.. Services were good at other places..but Mr Ankit in person was so bad
