Shatabdi's 11 days trip to Egypt

We went to Egypt and Jordan and we had an overall ok experience and honestly the experience would have been more or less same if we would have planned the holiday ourselves instead of hiring a travel agent. Although I must mention that the Jordan leg was way better then Egypt , long story short the agents did't add much value and I would rather recommend to plan the trip yourself. Below is the detailed feedback What worked well a. Guides in Alexendria , Cairo , Abu Simbel and Luxor - Guides in all these 4 locations were great. They took us around all the spots and explained us the history and significance of those spots very well. b. Awesome Jordanian experience thanks to Travanco and Mr Wahid (our driver cum guide) - The Jordanian experience was amazing and everything was well planned. Starting from the visa assistance in Amman airport to hotels and site seeing in Petra and Wadi rum. A special call out to Mr Wahid who was amazing. c. Assistance provided by Mr Sumit and Mr Karan with Jordanian visa - Apprently the Jordanian visa rules had changed for Indians by the time we travelled and we were not allow to board our flight from Mumbai because of that. And while it was a shocker for us to know that the travel agent did't know about the change (see below for details) , it was good to have Mr Sumit and Mr Karan providing adequate support in ensuring we are able to travel to the country as a part of our plan. In other words they were able to make arrangements in short timeframe which ensured that we were able to get into Jordan , although that cost us an additional 120 USD overall. d. Hotels - Overall the hotels in Egypt and Jordan were great. What did't go well a. Visa assistance (before travel) with Jordanian visa - Although Mr Sumit and Mr Karan were able to make arrangements to allow us enter Jordan , it was surprise to see that they were not aware of the changes to the Jordanian visa policy. When we hire travel agents to help us with holidays , we expect them to be up to date with the visa policy changes etc for the destination country. Eventually because of this we had to have an additional 120 USD added to the cost and not to mention go through some tense moments. I would like to state that we did ask for the Jordanian visa assistance in last week of December itself , after we got our Egyptian visa well before our travel dates to Mr Yatharth as well as Mr Sumit , and we were told that its visa on arrival so we should not worry. But Jordan had changed their visa policy early december and they were not aware of it. Eventually they mentioned that its airline's responsibility to inform passengers but I dont think I can buy that. Anyways all is well that ends well as we were able to make it to Jordan eventually - thanks to the last minute effort from Mr Sumit and Karan. Having said that they can act more professional for future and keep themselfs updated with the visa policy changes. b. Lack of clarity on cash requirements - We had asked time and again to Mr Yatharth how much of cash shall we carry and we were told that we just have to carry cash worh 20,000 INR. But well guess even they are not aware of the fact that credit cards are not widely accepted in Egypt , or they just casually replied - neverthless it was quite unprofessional as we had to make multiple ATM withrawals for cash in Egypt. Also suddenly in the tour Mr Ali (Egyptian counterpart of flying feet) asked for an additional 80 USD as hotel gurrentee for Aswan and Luxor hotel - something which we were not informed earlier. c. Aswan travel arrangements and guide - We took a 17 hour long train journey from cairo to Aswan and upon reaching Aswan at 1 , we wanted to go to hotel to freshen up before we start the tour. However I guess the hotel was not booked or our guide told that the checkin is not until 2. So we were to drag ourselfs through the Philae temple tour which we did't enjoy much as we were touring without any shower or bio break. Add to that Mr Nasser (our guide) was not at all good. He was constantly making comments like "maharani" to my wife despite us requesting him not to. For me he seeom to be a local goon rather then a guide. Eventually we checked into hotel at 4 and the hotel was nice , but then while we covered our itinary for Aswan , it was not enjoyble. d. Aswan to Luxor transfer - We took the Abu Simbel tour and upon our return we had to followup for the driver and the Luxor hotel where we to check in. Also in hotel we had no assistance and the staff were not expecting us. Again we had to follup with Mr Ali to have that issue resolved. Overall we could sense that the Aswan and Luxor leg was not planned at all and got planned at the last minute which was quite unprofessional e. Tips - Mr Ali on first day took tip money for drivers and ball boys however again we had to tip the drivers seperately. As a matter of fact they demanded money (especially Mr Hani who took us from Aswan to Luxor). f. Refund of cash - Mr Ali had taken an additional 90 USD (for jordanian visa and any other ad hoc tours) and then later 80 USD for hotel gurrentee. We took inner pyramid tour so considering all we were supposed to get 126 USD cash back from Mr Ali , which he promised to return on last day at airport. But guess what , on last day when we called him , he mentioned that he does't have people and the refund will take time. We had to wait until last minute to get our money back. That too we got only 100 USD and it took some additional followups from Mr Karan to get the remaining 26 USD back. It left a very bad taste for us and I dont think I would ever like to deal with Mr Ali in future.

Dipankar's 7 days trip to Jordan

I would like to thank TravelTriangle, our travel agent - Anshul-Passionate Discoveries Travels to put us through Travco Jordan. Travco Jordan were the ones who handled our travels in Jordan - from assisting in visa at the point of entry, transfers from the airport to the hotel, daytime sightseeing, travel guide etc. I would definitely recommend everyone to travel to Jordan and exploring it with Travco Jordan is a good way to do it. They have good drivers and English-speaking travel guides, who take you along. Were a group of 7 strangers in a comfortable van, but eventually made an awesome group of friends and memories. We had a travel-guide, who was knowledgeable, but was always in a rush to get over with things. With the itinerary we went with - we were to explore Amman city on our own. Uber works well within Amman. The hotel we stayed in Amman, Rum Arts Hotel (Al-Waleed) didnt provide great service with its food, not much of vegetarian option provided but the location, room quality was good. Hotel Petra Palace (Petra Stay) , The Grand East Resort (Dead Sea) are good places to stay, have food, explore and were really satisfactory. Our stay at Hillawi Camp (Wadi Rum) was decent, it wasnt a great camp, but yes Wadi Rum is a magical place, we explored it well by a desert night safari, night star gazing (not included in the itinerary), but highly recommeded. In Petra, we had to walk around 10km to reach the monastery (Ad-Deir) from the Petra Visitor Centre, to climb those 800 steps is exciting and also needs a good fitness level, shoes etc. I would not recommend the paid night visit to the Treasury, Petra, not much happens out there, it makes more sense to utilize those 17JD someplace else - probably at the Wadi Mujib (Al Siq Trail ) near Dead Sea is more exciting. Watch few youtube videos to know more about it. Do not miss the Al-Joun Fort, Jerash trip, if you love Roman history, ruins, this is going to be a good day-trip. Few tips from my side to make the Jordan trip with Travco more awesome - 1. Make a visit to Aqaba - the down south portcity of Jordan. It's ike an easy 2 hr drive from Wadi Rum - beaches, malls, a little fort, jelly fish, submerged tanks , an Israeli city across the sea makes it worth it. (not included in the itinerary, we paid extra to visit it) 2. Visit Al Maghtas (Jesus Baptizaiton site), there is something unique about this place, the feeling is sacred to watch the Jordan river flow, dangle your legs on its edge and let the feeling sink in (not included in the itinerary, we paid extra to visit it) 3. Do not pay 17JD for the night visit to Treasury, Petra. Not recommended. It's dark, crowded, a lot of camera flashes and nothing unique about it. 4. Buy drinking water cheaper in some general stores, a little bargain would really help. 5. Give yourself sometime to explore Amman City in the itinerary - the view from the Citadel is a must go place during the evening,Blue Mosque, stroll in the Rainbowstreet with visit to few eateries like Books Cafe, Hashims, Al Quds etc would be great (not included in the itinerary, take help of Uber, Google Maps and do it on your own) 6. Use Zain simcard. It has the best coverage in Jodran. Umniah, the other operator wont work in remote areas of Wadi Rum, Petra etc 7. Ask for sea-facing, pool facing rooms at the resorts of Dead Sea beforehand and have clarity about it , because the view other side aint great. 8. Carry an umbrella, a good pair of shoes, sun-screen lotion if you are there during summer 9. At times, the travel guide would get you into few shops to buy souveniers, but thats your call, you might get those at better prices someplace else too, so dont be in a hurry 10. Please be sure who would be your point of contact for any issues from Travco Jordan, because for us, they never gave us a point of contact for customer support. We used to talk to our travel guide, or with the representative who came to receive us at the airport etc, but never knew any senior 's number from Travco. Rest, we had an wonderful time exploring Jordan. The country is a hidden gem, amidst war-torn countries like Syria, Iraq, S.Arabia not even for a moment we felt unsafe walking Jordanian streets, the people, the culture is beautiful, the country's stunning landscape, history leaves me mesmerized and wanting for more. The country is tourist-friendly, Travco Jordan, Anshul -Passionate Discoveries ( our travel agents) have been equally professional, responsive and acted positively to make our trip, a successful one. Highly recommended group tour !!

Maulik's 8 days trip to Bhutan

I started searching for my Bhutan trip in July and travel triangle helped me get in touch with Bhutan INC. My experience with Bhutan INC was amazing. I was in touch with Miss Khina Maya who was available 24X7! I could contact her through whatsapp and she would always respond to my queries. The booking process was as per my needs - four installments. Coming to the trip - Both my wife and I were really excited as it was our first anniversary on December 3. I made a mistake by booking my flight from Mumbai to Siliguri for December 1. While you can enter Bhutan on any day, you can cross Phuentsholing (the border town) only on weekdays. That meant I had to stay back either in Siliguri or Phuentsholing on Saturday and Sunday. I chose to stay at CHAS Rajdarbar Hotel in Siliguri on Saturday and took an early morning cab to Phuentsholing on Sunday. Bhutan INC took care of all my travel from India to Bhutan and within Bhutan. Bhutan INC also helped in booking hotels of my choice - 3 star or 4 star on a budget. Note: If you are ever in Siliguri, do visit the Mahabir Bhojnalaya for it's epic vegeterian food. Hongkong market is just across the road if you want to purchase some cheap Chinese goods (only for non-Mumbaikars as we get everything here). December 2 - First day in Bhutan A WagonR picked us up from Siliguri and drove us to the border town Phuentsholing. India and Bhutan are separated by a very simple gate and you can immediately recognize the difference - clean roads devoid of any filth. The less said about the Indian border town Jaigaon, the better. We stayed at Hotel Damchen - best place to stay if you want to see the centre of Phuentsholing. It is right opposite Zangto Pelri Lakhang - a monastery and a park. There is a crocodile breeding centre not far away but you can skip it. Places to eat: Kizom Cafe and Pizzeria (the best, very expensive), Asian Kitchen (cheap beer, good food), Zen Restaurant, Tshering Phuensum Hotel (cheap beer and cocktails, purple lighting) December 3 - Drive from Phuentsholing to Thimphu This was the day we met our driver and guide - KINLEY! His car, a blue colored Hyundai Tucson, was BEAUTIFUL!! We reached the immigration office at 9 am. However, there was a huge line (only Indians) and we had to fill a form (which we should have done the previous day but sadly, we were not informed). We completed the form and stood in the line. It underwent a first-level verification and then we went on the first floor. There were around 20 immigration counters, all full! Also, agents are a big pain as they will get 10-20 passports at one go and the line wont move at all. We were done at around 10.30 am and Kinley was waiting for us downstairs. Phuentsholing to Thimphu is around 5 hours drive and we have to get down at the checkpost once for verification and stamping. The drive is as picturesque as it can be. Do stop at Gedu - you will either find fog moving upwards or you will find snow. We stopped at a local restaurant on the way for lunch. That's where we tasted Kewa Datshi (Potato with Cheese) and Ema Datshi (Chilli with Cheese) for the first time! Ema Datshi is Bhutan's national dish and it lives up to its name. It was AWESOME! We reached Thimphu at 4 pm and checked into Hotel Galingkha. If you are ever in Thimphu and want to stay in a 5-star type hotel on a budget, Galingkha is the one for you. Right in the middle of the town, it is surrounded by all night-life must-visit places of Thimphu. Do not, I repeat Do not, stay near the highway. You will be screwed! There is not much to talk about the local transport. Places to visit: Clock Tower Square - there is a maggi place here. You will also find a host of other restaurants and bars, Centenary and Coronation Park - Do visit Mojo Park on Wednesday for a live gig and Cloud 9 cafe and bar for its amazing ambience! Other places: Bhutan Kitchen, Ambient Cafe (closes at 8.30 pm) December 4 - Thimphu Sightseeing Memorial Chorten (entry is 300 Rs. per head): Just a tick-mark on places to visit, nothing out of the world. Was built in the memory of the third king. Buddha view point: 169 ft bronze statue of the Buddha Textile museum and craft bazaar (total entry is 150 Rs. per head): In my opinion, can be skipped Takin Reserve (entry is 300 Rs. per head): One, it's huge. Two, there are other animals. Three, we didn't find a TAKIN! (Takin is the national animal and Ema Datshi is the national dish) We tried Hoentae - a Bhutanese buckwheat momo - Tastes amazing! Note: You always have to talk about the King respectfully - people love him and his family and you should love them too! December 5 - Drive from Thimphu to Punakha We started at 9.30 am for a 3 hour drive through Punakha through the Dochu La Pass - the most famous pass in Bhutan. There are 108 chortens (buddhist structures) and the temperature is around 0-5 degrees Celsius in December. From here, you can see the mighty Himalayas and if you are lucky, the Kanchenjunga! Our next stop was the Chimi Lakhang (temple of fertility). We had chosen the hike option so Kinley left us near a field which we had to cross to reach the temple. It was a 30 minute hike. The ever gracious Kinley took us to a riverside hotel and arranged a seat for us in the balcony. The view was breathtaking - emerald clear waters, white sand, huge mountains. We finally checked in at our hotel - Damchen resort. The room was again 5-star like and the view was amazing. The river was so close to our balcony that we could almost feel it. It was so silent that you could hear the river flowing through the beautiful town. There was not much to do in Punakha that day. However, we went around the market and came back to our hotel for dinner. Day 6 - Drive from Punakha to Paro Our first stop was the mighty Punakha Dzong. It is the administrative centre that also houses a monastery. The head monk lives here during the winters as Punakha is a valley town and is slightly warmer than Thimphu during winters. Entry for the Dzong is 300 Rs. per head. Our next stop was the longest suspension bridge. It is long, and it is very high! You can click beautiful pictures of the valley and the river from the bridge. There is another monastery on the way to Paro that you may choose to skip. We arrived at Dewachen resort during lunch time. Now, the resort is nestled on a hill and is around 4 km away from the city centre. You can see planes land at Paro from your room. At night, you can see a sky full of stars. The view is breathtaking. You feel as if you are standing on top of a cliff! The room was huge and the feeling was again like a 5-star. This hotel is frequented by foreigners so expect top quality service and food. Their restaurant was amazing. Places to visit in Paro: You can visit the Paro market for handicrafts. Eat at Mountain Cafe, Champaca Cafe (a personal favorite), Brioche Cafe, and Sonam Trophel. Paro is a sleepy town so dont expect any nightlife here. Thimphu is the place for nightlife. Day 7: Tigers Nest Hike It is a 5-hour hike. 2.5 hours each way. This is because the climb ends and the reverse begins with a set of harrowing steps. Winter or summer, these steps will suck the life out of you! While the maximum journey is on an inclined path, the last leg and the initial part of the return leg would have you climb up and down steps. After you reach the monastery, you have to do a registration. So carry your permits. You will have to remove your cap / anything covering your head. You will have to submit your bags and your mobile phones at the locker counter. No photos allowed inside. It is one of their most sacred places. You can read about the hike online and trust me, it is all true. Just a note: Avoid if you are too old or if you avoid taking stairs. The steps / stairs are the most harrowing part of the journey that can break a weak heart! Day 8: Drive from Paro to Phuentsholing This is where we had our last journey with Kinley. He had become our family. Just to tell you a bit more about Kinley: He has been to India and even studied at LPU, Jalandhar! He has done his masters in tourism and hotel management. You cant and shouldnt treat them as drivers. Treat them like your family! National museum was shut because of renovation so we could not visit it. We arrived at Phuentsholing at noon. Hotel Royal Orchid overlooks Phuentsholing's football stadium and we could watch a live match between two schools! Royal Orchid is a 10 min walk from the centre of the town. But the location is great. A note: While coming back, you will stop at a checkpost again for 'Exit' stamp. Must visit: Mr. Sharma's army dhaba. Indian Army runs this dhaba on the highway. Do try their masala maggi and samosa! Indian army has a lot of presence in Bhutan due to infrastructure projects. Day 9: Drive from Phuentsholing to Bagdogra Airport Bhutan INC had included this in the cost as well. A few notes: 1. Alcohol is available everywhere in Bhutan but Tuesday is a weekly dry day everywhere 2. Beers to try: Red Panda (unfiltered wheat beer), Druk beer (premium quality), Thunder 15000 (super strong). Beers are dirt cheap 3. Popular whiskeys: K5 whiskey (most expensive), Misty Peak, Bhutan Grain Whiskey 4. Popular rums: XXX Rum at Rs. 100 for 750 ml! 5. Do try their peach wine - Zumzin 6. Popular vodkas: Raven 7. All types of alcohol are prepared using Himalayan spring waters 8. Thimphu has no traffic signals - please spare some time and observe their traffic police. Arvind's 8 days trip to Jordan

Our trip to Jordan was very well planned by Passionate Discoveries. Ms. Anshul was very helpful in planning the minutest details and was forthcoming in answering any queries. Her support was available throughout. The hotels provided were very good in all aspects. Lot of vegetarian food options were available. Wadi Rum jeep safari and hot air balloon ride tops it all.. It was very well organised.. The guides at all the historical sites were extremely informative.. Though we had a bad experience with the driver, other than that the trip was amazing.. Would recommend planning trips with Anshul and Travel triangle..

Mitesh's 9 days trip to Seychelles

About Seychelles wonderful place. One can experience adventure and leisure both at one place. Travel Triangle in collaboration with Red Letter Holidays gave a perfect plan of 3 nights Praslin (Chalet Cote Mer) 2 nights La Digue (Patatran Village) and 3 Nights (Avani Barbarons ) Mahe. All pick ups and ferry were planned accordingly so that you need not wait or your day is wasted just for boarding. Excellent work. I Would recommend Praslin as most scenic and adventurous island amongst all. Do visit Curieuse island and Snorkelling in St. Pierre is bliss and almost to Scuba. In La Digue La Estate, Tortoise Mountain and Anse Source D'Argent will almost sum up the Island and have a bicycle tour for sure. In Mahe city life beaches are less beautiful compared to Praslin and La Digue, visit Takamaka Rum Distillery, La dolce in Victoria they have best ice-cream in Mahe, for Indians Maharaja in Eden Island is bliss for food. It goes without saying it is expensive average 1000 INR for one Sabzi. Overall island is costly because of our exchange rate. Prices are same as India just that we (Indians ) have to pay 5 times due to exchange rate. Breath taking views while driving.

Giridhar's 7 days trip to Mauritius

Lovely family vacation , everything went off smoothly and we had a gala time in Mauritius. 1. Rent your own car to go around the places you want to cover as the tour operator missed a lot of beaches 2. Day trip to ile aux ceaf island was superb, the speedboat ride and parasailing are must do activities 3. Local home made rum was excellent, this is one of the specialities in Mauritius and you must try it ( Litchi / Ananas flavored)
