How to reach Goa from Pune

The distance between Goa and Pune is 473 kms by road and 492 km by rail. You can reach Goa either by train, bus, car or flight. While flight continues to remain a more convenient option, the train is always considered a cheaper means of transport for reaching Goa from Pune. Aerial distance Pune and Goa is 357 km which is easily covered in a duration of 1 hr. If you are planning to travel from Pune to Goa in the most convenient way, book a direct flight from Pune (PNQ) to Goa (GOI). If you wish to enjoy a drive by road, book a bus or cab from Pune to Goa. Travel by rail is also another option which is convenient yet time consuming. The cost for a 2 hr flight from Pune (PNQ) - Goa (GOI) is Rs. 5000. From the airport, you can book a pre-paid taxi or hire a private cab to reach the destination. Fares for taxis are charged according to pax.

Pune to Goa by Flight

Tourists may travel from Pune to Goa by flight in the most convenient way. The aerial distance between Pune and Goa is 357 km which is covered in a minimum time duration of 1 hr. Board the flight from Pune Airport (PNQ) to reach Vasco da Gama Airport, Goa (GOI). On reaching the airport, book a taxi available right outside the arrival terminal. Note that Uber and Ola cab services are not available at the airport.

Pune to Goa by Train

There are 3 direct trains running from Pune to Goa which include Goa Express (12780), Pune Ers Sup Exp (22150) and Poorna Express (11097). It takes a minimum time duration of 11 hrs to reach Goa from Pune by train. The cheapest train fare is for the Goa Express which takes a time duration of 12 hrs. The cheapest price for Pune Jn - Sawantwadi Road by train is Rs. 1300 for 10 hrs. On reaching the station in Goa, take a hired cab or local transport ( as per the availability) to reach your destination.

Pune to Goa by Road

There are two ways to reach Goa from Pune by road. The first option is to reach Goa by self-driven car and the second is by bus. However, the distance covered will remain the same, i. e. 440 km. but the time taken varies.

How To Reach Goa from Pune By Car

If you wish to travel from Pune to Goa by car, it will take a time duration of approximately 7 hrs. The route for Goa goes via Bardez. Therefore, you have to drive for 7 hrs to reach Goa through Pune - Bardez at an approximate cost of Rs. 3700.

How To Reach Goa From Pune By Bus

Direct bus route is available from Pune to Goa. Private as well as state transport buses are available from Pune. Chinchwad and Pune (By-Pass) are the two main bus stations in Pune. You can board the bus from any one of the above. The time taken to reach Goa from Pune by road is 11 hrs and bus charge starts at Rs. 792.

It is easier to get around Goa. You may either drive your personal vehicle around or hire a scooter or four-wheeler to drive on your own.

By Air

The Goa International Airport at Dabolim is Goa’s only airport and is located near Vasco da Gama. With just about 29 kilometers from the capital, Panaji, you may board a flight to Goa from any part of the country, and reach here in no time. There are regular flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin, Bangalore and Hyderabad to this beach paradise.

By Train

If you opt to travel to Goa by train, there are two railway lines you can travel by. The South Western Railway that connects Vasco with Hubli, Belgaum, etc. and the Konkan Railway lines that connects Margao to cities along the western coast of the country. You can get down at Thivim in North Goa and Vasco-da-Gama or Madgaon in South Goa, and enjoy the lovely views of this beach paradise by train which is fast and convenient as well.

By Road

To find out how to reach Goa by road, let us tell you that there are regular buses for intracity and intercity convenience. You can travel by state-run buses that are operated by Kadamba Transport and enjoy comfortable rides. And, if you are traveling from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, then there are daily buses plying to Goa. You can also choose to travel by Volvo and Deluxe AC buses.

If you are traveling by your own cab, you can take any of the four highways. The first is the NH66 which connects Goa to Mumbai in the northern part and Mangalore to the southern parts. You can also take the NH-4A that connects Panaji to Belgaum in the eastern part and other cities such as Kolhapur and Bangalore etc. There is also the NH-366 that connects NH-66 to Mormugao Port from Cortalim. The newest highway is the four lane NH-566 which connects Mormugao Port to NH-66 at Verna. This also takes you via the Dabolim Airport.
