About Panshet

Panshet is a small village located 50km from Pune and is situated in the beautiful surroundings of Panshet Dam andVarasgaon Dam. The place is popular for water activities and is considered as an ideal spot for picnicking. At Panshet, one can enjoy water sports like kayaking, speed boat rides, banana ride and water scooters. Camping can also be enjoyed inthe adjoining areas of Panshet Reservoir. Some of the places for sightseeing include Sinhagad Fort, Sinhagad National Park, Khadakwasla and the forts of Torna and Raigad.  
Panshet is well connected to major cities in the State through bus, train and flight facilities.
Khadakwasla Dam is one of the prime attractions in Panshet. Having been constructed over the Mutha River, it is a perfect getaway for residents of Pune. Located near the confluence of Ambi and Mutha rivers, the Khadakwasla Dam is an exquisite and picturesque spot situated near Khadakwasla village. The dam is highly suited for picnic.
Sinhagad Fort is located at an altitude of 1316m and is considered as one of the chief attractions of Panshet. Sinhagad literally means the 'Lion Fortress'. Trekking enthusiasts can climb over the hilltop for a stupendous view from thehilltop. The popular fort happened to be the summer residence of Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
Panshet water park is also one of the significant attractions located amidst the backdrop of aesthetic surroundings. Panshet Waterpark lies between Panshet Dam and Varasgaon Dam and is one of the chief attractions of Pune. The park offers excellent opportunity for wind surfing, swimming, kayaking, water scooters, exhilarating rides on speed boats etc.
Panshet Dam also called Tanaji sagar Dam is located on the Ambi river about 50km south west of Pune. It provides drinking water supplyto Pune. About 20 Kms from Panshet dam is Varasgaon dam. Built on the Mose river Varasgaon dam is also called Veer Pasalkar dam.  Panshet and Varasgaon along  with Khadakwasla constitute the major water reservoirs near Pune supplying water to the city.  
Panshet Lake is also one of the exquisite picnic spots for people of Pune and Mumbai.
