About Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary in Munnar

When you visit this wildlife sanctuary you will get to view the multitude of animal species like spotted deer, elephants, hanuman langur, peacocks, sambar and much more. A must see attraction in this unique thorny scrub forest is the endangered Giant Grizzled Squirrel of India which are just about 200 in number. Take in the beautiful scenery while walking around this sanctuary located in the rain shadow area of the Western Ghats. There are several activities you can indulge in here like trekking to the cultural site, river trekking, a trek to the Thoovanam falls, nature trail to the watchtower, a medicinal garden, tree house at Chinnar and camping at Vasyappara. The best time to visit this wildlife sanctuary is from December to April when the weather stays cool and enjoyable, making it perfect for nature walks.
