How did this engineer start exploring the country solo?

Being a true Himalayan baby, Koyel has been feeling its magic since childhood. The joyous vacations to Himalayas that the family undertook instilled a longing of exploration in her.

But it was the Shodhyatra walk at the age of 19 that cemented her relationship with travel. During this walk, Koyel felt blissful and happy in the whole journey of learning and discovery.

Wanting more of this new found love, she immediately took another trip to IIT Guwahati with 3 of her friends, but decided to do a solo journey eventually.

How the hell does she do it?

Financing trips is usually an issue but not for our star traveler here. Koyel belonged to a lower middle class family and funded her initial travels by participating in maximum number of sponsored colleges festivals and activities. Clever and ingenious, this trick gave her the best of both worlds – Study & Travel.

Her journey however wasn’t exactly a bed of roses. Encountering language barriers, unknown lands and most importantly the risk of her safety, Koyel never gave up.
In a country where women don’t feel safe even in broad daylight, Koyel traveled to mountains, valleys and what not. Solo!

Time + Experience = Wisdom + Courage
Get it?

So, how does a WORKING WOMAN manage to get away to awesome locations every month? Well, through a word called Time Management!

‘Every month I add my 1 off Saturday to the weekend and begin my journey on Friday itself. Apart from this, I also work on National Holidays to avail Comp Offs for use in my long duration getaways’. – Koyel Biswas.

Funds, Office, Holidays? Whatever it is, she makes it happen!

With an impressive portfolio of adventure, cycling trips across India , and what not, Koyel is a true adrenaline junkie that wants to be forever high on life. But unlike most girls, this daredevil prefers to click her selfies atop mountain peaks!

Most adventurous part of the entire journey was biking through the 3km tunnel in Aut - HP

Her last biking trip to Jalori Pass at 10,600 Ft. (Organized by YHAI) was one of the craziest things that she had ever done.

Facing her fear of water -Koyel on the river bed

Despite being scared of water and not knowing how to swim, she has successfully completed rafting through choppy waves, zipped over a lake and still relished the entire experience of overcoming fear.

“You either look for adventure or you become one.” – Koyel Biswas

Motivated by this image from the Facebook page of the Himalayan Club Group, Koyel is inspired by the lady’s relentless pursuit of travel.

Needless to say, Koyel is one of those few women who have fought the odds in the name of passion. Having given priority to what makes her happy, she chose not to sit behind the TV hoping for adventure, but focused on being the adventure herself.
