Travel for us is nothing, but a golden gate for soul-searching. It not only helps in seeing life from a different perspective, but also lets you explore the unexplored. But, why I love it heaps is also because traveling to a unique place brings two hearts closer. And that’s why celebrating our honeymoon in Maldives was the best decision ever!
It had been only five months that my wife and I had met, after which we decided to tie the knot. But, we felt that the courtship period wasn’t quite long enough to know each other inside and out. So both of us wanted to go some place that was perfect enough to unwind and also had a charming yet comfy aura that would help us connect at a deeper level.
Maldives being the beauty that it is, became our final pick! Immediately after closing that call, we were looking for a good Maldives honeymoon package. And that’s when my friend recommended us TravelTriangle. I loved how the website had the features of customizing the whole experience, keeping one’s budget and interests in mind. Right from the booking process to the time we were celebrating our honeymoon in Maldives, everything was super smooth and convenient.

Day 1: Kick-starting our new life with a romantic houseboat stay in Kerala
We wanted to spend some time in god’s own country before beginning our honeymoon in Maldives. So, from the Cochin Airport we enjoyed a 2.5 hour drive to reach Alleppey for our romantic stay in the houseboat.

I had lived in Kerala for a couple of years, so the day became quite nostalgic, but definitely worthwhile. In the evening we went for a two to three hour long boat ride, where we met a few other couples. While breaking the ice with them, we also enjoyed the view a lot. Our boat stopped at a local village where we had dinner before heading back to our room.
We stayed for the night in Tharangini Boat House in Alleppey, which we had booked on our own. Everything from the hospitality to the food there was very heartwarming, and the serene views around made the place look even more magical.
Next morning, my wife and I took the boat ride again before leaving for the airport.
Day 2: Enroute Maldives from the Cochin Airport
The whole second day of our honeymoon trip was spent in traveling from Cochin to Maldives. Though it was quite tiring, it had little moments of joy that we’ll cherish forever.

On reaching Male, we took a ferry to commute till the city. To refresh ourselves, we had decided to relax in Champa Central, a decent local hotel for the night. The best thing there was the rooftop buffet dinner, where we tasted local fish cuisines. The whole experience was not just pleasing for our taste buds, but also our souls.

The resort staff welcomed us with drinks, after which we headed to our room. Ours was a gorgeous beach view villa, which was well decorated and had patio furniture on the ground floor, well equipped with every amenity you might need to enjoy a beach holiday. And the room was on the second floor. We relaxed for a while, freshened up, and went to spend some time together in the swimming pool, and then later by the beach side.

The rest of the day was spent majorly snorkeling in the sea close to our resort, kayaking, and lazing around. For lunch, both of us tried the a la carte menu of our hotel’s Kandooma Cafe. After that we headed back to our rooms for a quick nap, and spent the evening together, taking a romantic stroll along the beach, and exploring the island.

Day 5: Special trip to the Turtle Point
By now, snorkeling and kayaking had become a routine of our honeymoon in Maldives, and we were enjoying it to the fullest. Both of us were so swooned over by it that we even booked a special snorkeling trip to the Turtle Point. It cost us around US$150, and I can bet that the experience was worth every penny.
On this day, both of us spent the night on the jetty where we enjoyed a toothsome dinner with cocktails.
Day 6: A leisurely day out!
No trip is ever complete without winning over some challenges, even if it’s a honeymoon in Maldives. We started the morning of the sixth day of our trip quite similarly, but this time the craze was for kayaking. The decision was to take it further to a distance, and interacting with each other jovially did help us in discovering each other’s fun side.
Relaxing at the shacks, then in our room, and walking around the island were some of the things we did during the afternoon. Like all the other fun evenings at the resort, this day had a karaoke night scheduled. We sang along and bonded with each other over the music of ‘Hotel California’, and that time is worth reminiscing.

The day ended on quite a romantic note. We sat outside our villa, under the moonlit sky shining bright with the stars, where we talked our hearts out. It was definitely one of the best moments of our trip.
Day 7 and 8: Bidding bye to Maldives
It was time that our honeymoon in Maldives came to an end. But, the fun didn’t. We checked out early from the resort, took a ferry till the city, and explored the local markets of the city. The day was surprisingly quite hot, but touring the city on our feet was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.
We finally bid bye to Maldives and boarded our flight from the airport back to Cochin, and then home!
