When I came across TravelTriangle’s advertisement on Facebook featuring a weekend trip to Mcleodganj, I was instantly attracted and didn’t want to let this opportunity just pass me by. I roped in my best friend and filled in my details on the online form. Pretty soon, I was being poured in with the entire trip plan by Suresh, a friendly representative of the company who then helped me book my entire trip. Once the payment was through, me and my friend started looking forward to the weekend and what it had in store for us!

We boarded our bus at around 7:30 and left for Mcleodganj at about 8:30 when our coordinator, Shubham, had made sure everyone was onboard and had settled in for this promising journey.

We reached Mcleodganj at about 7 in the morning the next day and were dropped at our hotel- the M Hotel. The hotel is a 4 star property with comfortable rooms, a pleasant staff, and a great view of the town below!

Once we had freshened up, we headed out to have breakfast at Jimmy’s Italian Kitchen, a really nice cafe where we treated ourselves to all types of continental cuisines and clicked pictures.

Next, we proceeded to the Dal Lake. The lake wasn’t very scenic in itself, but the 3 km stroll through the lake’s surroundings with such enthusiastic and full-of-life people was a brilliant experience.
After hanging out at the lake for some time, we headed back to our hotel to enjoy some delicious momos at the market right beside it.

Later, we paid our respects at the peaceful, enchanting monastery of Dalai Lama, before moving onward to Bhagsu Falls.
We hung out at the waterfall for a while, admiring it’s beauty and clicking pictures, and then proceeded to the famous Shiva Cafe.

We indulged ourselves in a splendid view of the sunset from the cafe, before returning to our hotel to have dinner and sleep.
The adventure-loaded trek to Triund through rocks, boulders, and lush green surroundings
We woke up to a lovely morning, and an even lovelier breakfast! We freshened up and prepared ourselves for the most delightful part of our weekend getaway to Mcleodganj- the trek to Triund.
We commenced the Triund trek at around 9 am directly from the hotel. Me, my friend, and our friendly coordinator Shubham kept ahead of others and constantly kept devising new shortcuts while everyone else slowly walked through those rocky terrains and green meadows.
Our constant quest for new, untrodden pathways turned the trek into an absolutely exciting and adventurous affair! Panting, we reached the top at about 3:30 pm.

Once at the top, we checked into our camps, checked out our mesmerising surroundings, and were treated with some piping hot tea and snacks.

Later, we enjoyed a serene sunset from this point and clicked pictures while the staff arranged for a bonfire.
Once the fire was lit, we gathered around it and spent the night singing songs, dancing, playing Antakshari. Soon, more travelers joined in and the night grew even merrier when we spotted some shooting stars in the star-studded sky overhead.
After a frivolous night of singing, dancing, playing games, and star-gazing, we indulged ourselves in a delicious dinner prepared fresh by the camp staff, and went off to our tents to sleep.

We got up really early the next day, as we did not want to miss the sunrise at Triund, and it was totally worth it! After witnessing those spectacular blend of colours in the sky for some time, we freshened up and trekked back down to Mcleodganj.
Once we were down, we went over to the Dalai Lama Temple complex where we revelled in its heart-warming architecture. Later, we also spent time at St John in the Wilderness, a magnificent church in Mcleodganj, before boarding our bus and heading home.

The experience of sitting at the mountaintop around a crackling fire, singing and dancing with total strangers while the sky was putting up a breathtaking show overhead, was simply mind blowing! My weekend trip to Mcleodganj gave me priceless, unforgettable memories.
My WOW moments on the trip: Our time at Shiva Cafe, star-gazing and spotting shooting stars up at Triund, meeting new people.
My Not-So-WOW moments: We didn’t get any call from the representatives of TravelTriangle after we booked the trip and we had to constantly call to get updates on our trip.
