About Curepipe in Mauritius

Curepipe is a town in the Plaines Wilhems district of Mauritius, and it is home to a number of major tourist attractions of the island country.

Also known as La Ville-Lumiere, or the City of Light, Curepipe, Mauritius lies at a much higher elevation than the rest of the surrounding areas, which is why it is often referred to as the Central Plateau. Despite being an inland destination, Curepipe is a favourite of the travellers thanks to its eclectic ambience.

Curepipe is home to the famous crater, Trou aux Cerfs, the eruption of which 700,000 years ago was part of the second phase of volcanic activities that created the island of Mauritius. The crater is that many years old, and can be hiked up to from the base for a spectacular view of the surroundings. A trip to Trou aux Cerfs is the main attraction of Curepipe. Located very near to Trou aux Cers is the oldest casino of Mauritius, Casino de Maurice with games like poker, roulette, blackjack and slot machines. Try your luck here to win some fun goodies and enjoy a drink or two.

Curepipe, Mauritius shopping is also a must include activity in the itinerary. There are some excellent shops to show off your bargaining skills and bag everything, from clothes to handicrafts to souvenirs, all at reasonable rates. Some prominent shops would be Galerie des Iles, Voiliers de I’Ocean and Beate de Chine. While there, also visit Curepipe Botanical Garden. Established in 1870, you will be greeted here with an abundance of lush greens an exotic species of flowers.

We had an amazing trip to Mauritius, all thanks to Gurmeet! From start to finish, everything was perfectly planned and hassle-free. She took care of all the details— accommodation & activities—and made sure we had the best experience possible. Her thoughtful recommendations as per our plan truly made a difference. Highly recommend Gurmeet if you're looking for a stress-free, memorable vacation!

Naveen's 5 days trip to Mauritius

Overall a great trip, except for the following: Pickup cab was missing, there was no one with the placard at the airport. One driver even made me load the luggage and then asked me to unload it as he didn't have enough seats. No drinking water bottle provided anywhere - during meals at hotel, transfer cabs and during the tours. Most tours end at 4-5pm and dinner starts at 7pm only, it's important for the hotel to provide some fruits / snacks at the room for full board booking.

Aman's 6 days trip to Mauritius

Everything was mostly good. The only improvement could be to include more city time in port lois. We lot very less time to explore the main city market and do shopping. Also we got very limited time at Waterfront in port lois. We hoped to see sunset there but travel agent wanted to wrap by 4pm and leave early.
