About Balaclava in Mauritius (2020)

Balaclava is a village in the western part of Mauritius, known for its spectacular beach along with the sparkling blue of the Indian Ocean. The Balaclava Beach in Mauritius is known for its pristine beauty and a plethora of watersports activities. Also known as Victoria Beach or Oberoi Beach after the two most luxurious hotels located here, the public beach facing the Balaclava Bay, Mauritius is an extremely pretty sight here. The water here is crystal clear and a striking turquoise blue, with the seabed nearer to the shore. The beach itself is of powdery white sand, which is toasted by the sun all day, thus making Balaclava, Mauritius a perfect location for sunbathing and swimming.

Balaclava Beach, Mauritius also has a stunning collection of coral reefs within a couple of hundred meters from the shore, which can be seen and explored by scuba diving and snorkeling. But other than the few luxury hotels, you will not find many establishments here. One of the best locations to snorkel is the Turtle Bay Marine Park Balaclava Mauritius near Maritim Hotel. The marine environment here is extremely rich in flora and fauna and the diving experience you will have is fantastic.

Near the Maritim Resort and Spa is also a sight worth beholding – the Balaclava Fort, Mauritius. Called the Balaclava ruins, this site is a French fort constructed a few meters away from the Turtle Bay area in the 18th century. The location has been restored and used as an estate for a chain of hotels, but it is definitely worth a visit from the outside, simply because of its enriching past.

Rohan's 6 days trip to Mauritius

We experienced so many aspects of this fascinating region of Mauritius. Engrossing and stimulating. The trip was varied, well paced and brilliantly organised. It's the second time we've been with Travel Triangle, and first with AGA Holidays which says everything about their efficiency, friendliness and organizational skills. Special token of appreciation to Aman from AGA Holidays for arranging this within a short notice.

Ghareanagha's 6 days trip to Mauritius

The trip was a good, awesome experience. The resort was also very nice. Few things to highlight - when we reached Mauritius airport we got to know that our itinerary has changed, which was disappointing Also, the driver has not covered all the sightseeing points. They skipped some points. Although the overall experience was good, we had a fun, very relaxing trip...

Nitin's 6 days trip to Mauritius

We had a very nice experience in Mauritius. The agent informed us about everything in advance so it was a breeze. The resort was very nice and the only thing missing was good food. They have indian options but very bland. Use salt generously and carry packaged aachar packets with you. We had a shared transport and fortunately our pickup was always last to we got plenty of time in the morning. Check that with your agent while booking or you can opt for private transfer. Most places accept cards without any charge but some places (mostly activities) charge a 3.5% premium on card. If you want all cash probably carry around 15k cash in MUR more if you want to enjoy all activities. Overall a very nice experience. Recommended things to do: Do undersea walk and the signature zip line (1.5 kms)
