Temples in Uttarakhand

Spirituality runs synonymous with Uttarakhand. Perhaps, there are more temples devoted to Lord Shiva in Uttarakhand than there are mountains. The state holds numerous Hindu myths tucked up its sleeve. Especially the hills in Garhwal division are studded with many Hindu pilgrimages including the Chhota Char Dham. Thousands of pilgrims in every summer vacation pay a visit the origin of India’s holiest river near Gangotri, make the treacherous journey of Kedarnath trek, and listen to soul-stirring kirtan at Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara. Besides Tapkeshwar Temple, the city of Dehradun features a handful of Buddhist temples as well. The Badrinath Temple, Baleshwar Temple, Naina Devi Temple, and Mansa Devi Temple are among the popular temples in Uttarakhand.
