The stays booked was very good, but the driver insisted us to book jeeps through his contacts only which were very expensive and also took to places which can be skipped.

Jehangir's 7 days trip to Kerala

Our travel agent was good but I had a heart breaking experience as the vehicle at the airport pickup was not what was asked for so I had to arrange one myself with additional waste of time in acquiring it and paying extra for the same. After reaching the hotel I had to let the vehicle go and was without one till late next morning. Fortunately the agent arranged for the appropriate vehicle and I could save the trip. I have not be reimbursed for the extra expenses even after sharing all payment details. So in a way yes I was extremely dejected till all became well. I still am as I have not been reimbursed The place and sightseeing was wonderful

Parveen's 10 days trip to Kerala

We had a great trip to Kerala. The hotels had been booked properly. The hotels were nice in general. The Kochi hotel could do with some minor but very important maintenance. Gave us the feeling that it is mostly unoccupied. Alleppy UDS was really nice. UDS hotels in Trivandrum and Kovlam were also nice even though the Kovlam hotel rooms were of lower than expected category. Buying the entrance tickets for most places were a somewhat painful experience because of long queues despite paying high or fast queue prices. 4 hour Houseboat experience in Alleppy was a bit disappointing . It was probably much better than a full day houseboat experience. I believe a Shikara boat for a few hours could have been a better experience. The Travel agent did not book the Pariyar Tiger Reserve tickets for boat ride in advance as per the deal. Finally we decided to give it a miss. The agent did however offer us the refund of the cost for that. Munnar gave us a real hill station feeling. The Aranyaka resort was very nice. Our room had great views. We could have spent some more days there.

Mirza's 5 days trip to Kerala

It was my first visit to kerela and after research I chose to go with 7C Destination. The whole trip went smooth and the driver was very kind. He very well took care of our requirements and took us to all the points and gave us enough time to enjoy and rejuvenate at different points. My agent Ranjith kept in touch all the times right from planning my itinerary to accomodating my adhoc requests and was very prompt at replying. Me and my wife are very happy with our trip to Kerela. It was a wholesome experience in the God's own country. Allepey house boat was a much delightful experience and unique in its own way. I will remember this experience for the rest of my life. It's a must do for all visiting kerela

Mcgregornick's 4 days trip to Kerala

Our 4 day tour of Kerala was pretty good. The tour is very prepackaged with the driver taking you to the sites he thinks you’ll want to see (the same ones everyone else is sent to see) so it doesn’t suit individuals looking to get off the beaten track. For example, we stopped at the same waterfalls as everyone else, went to the same tea museum and national park as everyone else and were scheduled to go to the same dam as everyone else (we opted out). There is no asking you what you want to do or getting to know your preferences; you are treated as just another uneducated tourist to fleece. Our driver was courteous but initially used his phone a lot while driving (videos, talking and texting) but stopped after I asked him to. Our private Alleppey houseboat was clean and beautiful but the cruising part itself was disappointing. We were only underway for a total of 3 hours out of our 20+ hours on board, meaning we were docked for 15 hours, tied up to shore. You get dropped off at the boat, cruise for 30 minutes to a small shop downriver, get the hard sell on some prawns (2000 rupees a kilo), cruise for 30 more minutes, tie up at shore, eat lunch (very tasty), crew naps, after 1.5 hours stopped, you start to cruise onto the main body of the lake, cruise for 2 hours in what is ultimately a loop and return to the exact place you boarded the boat. You tie up and sit there until 9 am the next morning, despite our itinerary clearly saying we were to cruise from 8-9 am. The boat is cool but, again, you feel like you’re getting cheated out of the 5 hours of cruising you are promised. Also, when you see 50 other boats right next to you doing the exact same thing, it takes away from the experience. Being docked on shore for the vast majority of the trip, you wonder what’s the point of getting a houseboat? Hotels in the area are much cheaper and with a day cruise, you would get to see the same things we saw. The company rep did not often respond to my messages during the trip, instead choosing to ignore rather than help solve issues. Overall, Travel unbounded isn’t bad but they aren’t great either; you leave with a lackluster vacation experience.

Prasanth's 4 days trip to Kerala

The entire trip is smooth and the driver is friendly with us. The hotel at Munnar is very good at nice locality and ambience. The hotel at Thekkady is the worst one, did not offer complimentary breakfast and dinner, and the facilities are not good. It is more like a lodge and does not deserve to be a 3-star hotel. The houseboat at Alleppey is the best of all the experiences we had. Houseboat at Alleppey and the morning jeep safari at Munnar are the best memories of the trip.

Types of Houseboats

1. Kettuvallam Houseboats

These are the older and basic versions of houseboats featuring two living quarters, a kitchen area and storage area. These are made with jackfruit logs, coconut fibre and coconut nails.

2. Upper Deck Houseboats

These houseboats were made keeping the requirements of top notch visitors in mind. Many luxury and comfort additions have been added to the humble houseboat such as carpeted floors, international cuisines cooked in the kitchen, air conditioned and well furnished with many other facilities.

3. Punting boat house

These boathouses use muscle power of the punters rowing to move from one place to another and the method used is fascinating in itself. These houseboats too have undergone many changes to accommodate the rising demands for such a mode of transportation.

Facilities and Meals in Houseboats

Most of the modern houseboats in Kerala are nothing short of luxury resorts with every facility added to it to make sure you enjoy a splendid time on your stay. Nearly all houseboats have sizable bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, a lounging area, decks, wonderful furniture and some even have air conditioning.

When you sign up for a Kerala boat house honeymoon package, you don’t have to worry about what to eat and where to eat from. Your cruise journey will start with a welcome drink as soon as you enter the houseboat. Then comes the lunch time flaunting traditional Kerala delicacies on your platter. Food served inside the houseboat is prepared by the staff and therefore they are fresh, healthy and tasty too. When you are in Kerala, you must try their local dishes made from fish. You will also love their vegetable curries and spicy chutneys accompanying the main course. Menu usually includes rice, idly, dosha, appam, daal, sambar, chutney, fish curry, chicken curry, chutney and sweets. Cooking is mainly done in coconut oil or vegetable oil unless you instruct them otherwise. While sitting on the deck of your houseboat, you can buy fish, crab or prawns from the floating markets or local restaurants to have delicious evening snacks. Apart from this, Kerala boathouse honeymoon package prices affordable and you can surely enjoy a lovely vacay.
