Sharing a houseboat or having one exclusively to yourself depends on the package you have taken. Share your requirements with the travel agent in advance to avoid last minute hassles.

With most airlines imposing a 20 kg limit on baggage, one must make sure to not bring excess baggage. Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are a must have, apart from airy cotton apparels and comfortable footwear. Also make sure that you leave enough space inyour bags for taking back home souvenirs from the state.

Some temples in Kerala do not allow photography of the idols and the temple premises. Also, Indian government prohibits photography of bridges and hydroelectric projects in the state

During the off-season, hill stations like Munnar are cool enough to travel to. However, places such as Alleppey and Kumarakom are pretty hot for a visit. Monsoon season does not see a lot of tourists but the lush greenery all around will ensure tourists will have a great time.

The off season in Kerala is from April to May, during which time it is too humid for comfort. The monsoon season here is from June to August.
