History says that King Kashyapa I made this palace complex in the 5th century AD. Colombo-Sigiriya is approximately 175 km away northeast of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. A journey by road can take 4 to 5 hours, and hence, people tend to take the route through Kandy with a halt over there.
