2. Poa Place Eldoret

The Eldoret Natural and Cultural Centre, popularly known as Poa Place, is a haven of well-preserved flora and fauna in the North Rift region. The centre is located about three kilometres from town on the Eldorer-Nakuru highway, It was an idea put into action 10 years ago and officiated by the then permanent secretary and later presidential candidate, Prof James Ole Kiyiapi. A couple of lions, 11-year-old Blondi and Paul, 6, are the main tourist attractions in the small park.

Carved out of the magnificent walls of the Great Rift Valley are the Chepkiit Waterfalls, which loosely translates to “view from above”. Chepkiit Conservancy and Waterfalls is situated along Nandi-Kapsabet Road. It is 26km from Eldoret Town and a few kilometres from the Eldoret International Airport. Gushing water from River Sosiani cascades 100 m to the floor of the escarpment. With four different viewpoints, it’s the perfect location for a romantic picnic or a bird-seeing excursion.
