Eldoret is a town and urban centre in Kenya. Gazetted as a municipality, it is in the Rift Valley region, and it serves as the capital of Uasin Gishu County. The beautiful Koromosho Falls are on the River Sosiani in Uasin Gishu County. They are situated about 20 kilometres to the west of Eldoret. Koromosho Falls holds significant cultural and historical value among the local communities. In addition to being well hidden by its surroundings, Koromosho Falls also conceals an enormous cave behind its cascades. This cave is home to bats that only venture out for food, otherwise spending their lives in this damp, dark cavity. The mist hanging around the cave opening gives the tale an even more eerie feel.

2. Poa Place Eldoret

The Eldoret Natural and Cultural Centre, popularly known as Poa Place, is a haven of well-preserved flora and fauna in the North Rift region. The centre is located about three kilometres from town on the Eldorer-Nakuru highway, It was an idea put into action 10 years ago and officiated by the then permanent secretary and later presidential candidate, Prof James Ole Kiyiapi. A couple of lions, 11-year-old Blondi and Paul, 6, are the main tourist attractions in the small park.

3. Chepkiit Waterfalls

Carved out of the magnificent walls of the Great Rift Valley are the Chepkiit Waterfalls, which loosely translates to “view from above”. Chepkiit Conservancy and Waterfalls is situated along Nandi-Kapsabet Road. It is 26km from Eldoret Town and a few kilometres from the Eldoret International Airport. Gushing water from River Sosiani cascades 100 m to the floor of the escarpment. With four different viewpoints, it’s the perfect location for a romantic picnic or a bird-seeing excursion. The scenic area is home to wild animals and is surrounded by rocks and indigenous trees.

Mount Elgon National Park is spread over an area of 1279 square kilometres. It is distinctively split down the middle by the border of Uganda and Kenya. About 169 square kilometres of the park lie in Kenya, while the park has 1110 square kilometres in Uganda. Mount Elgon National Park has the most extensive volcanic base in the world.
