The construction of this historical place initiated the development of a water tank under the rule of Allaudin Khilji, with the intention that it would supply water to the medieval city known as Siri. The tank was named Hauz-e-Alai which translates as tank in Urdu. Soon after, Firoz Shah Tughlaq was under rule, and he ordered the reconstruction of this tank and changed its name to Hauz Khas, which translates to ‘Royal Tank’. Additionally, he ordered the construction of several other structures such as mosques, pavilions, and tombs which soon formed the fort.
It is a wonderful sight to visit. It allows people to understand their ancestor’s history even better, the condition of the land, and politics in the olden times.
